Traditionnaly we planned to follow both "rabbits", CR-1-I-130, then K-3-I-129F; now that we got NOA1 for I-130 so fast, should we still pursue the initial plan for K-3? Thus, what value has NOA1 for the rest of the process? We also try to understand why was so fast for us, actually very curious to know if it's because we did file the petition the best we could possible, or because now at VSC is going fast? Thanks in advance!

NOA1 happens fairly quickly after sending the package in, it is just a letter of receipt.

Some people go to the trouble of trying both routes at the same time, but both seem to have similar timing, so if you have not started the K3 you may just not and stay with the petition that you have submitted.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

The NOA1 is only a receipt, not an approval, and comes promptly for most people. Once you get an NOA2, you can start deliberating the merits of your "rabbits."

Please do your timeline so people have enough information to give a knowlegable answer. Then, look at the timelines for people going through your embassy. Look at length of time betweeen NOA2 and interviews.

knowledge, congrats on getting the NOA1 so quickly!

NOA1 is your receipt; merely them saying: we received your mail. Now you wait for NOA2. This can be zero to six months, maybe more.

As an *insurance policy*, you can use the NOA1 to file an I-129f for your spouse, which would ultimately lead to a K-3 visa. There are a few strategic reasons someone might want to pursue the K-3, often to do with the country of origin. It's also a good back up in case something takes a long time with the I-130/Immigrant Visa process.

The thing is, getting the NOA1 fast means nothing. It only means that the mail room responded quickly to their work. A speedy NOA2 is a good thing. :)

If you originally planned to file toward a K-3, getting NOA1 fast should do nothing to change your decision.

Thanks for the reply! why i asked this question is because many apply for k-3 once they got the NOA1 from I-130, not NOA2.

As for the timeline, i have tried but im illeterate in computers, so for now i just put it in my profile; i'll try when i'll have more time to do it again.

Thanks a lot Meauxna! (F) As usual i like the technical logic you explain behind the process! Makes sens, we were undecided yesterday as we have received the first sign, now we were more towards to apply for k-3 because it's more souple for the family obligations we both have. Btw, i am the beneficiary; a good way for me to improve my english here also!...

I am doing both if the K-3 makes it first will go with it cause he can come up sooner. Then when the CR-1 gets approved we will go visit family and go for the next interview in Kingston its only a 3 1/2hour flight so we will be all good and we will not have to deal with things for 2 years also :)!

Who knows!!..it's still interesting now that all is so irregular to try for K-3 and see what happens. And as i said, we both have family obligations, so K-3 might help if possible.

Our K3 is only 2 weeks prior to our CR1 interview. Can we go to both and get both so close together? We dont want to decline the K3, but want to enter on CR1.
