My dad is going to be our co-sponsor so does he need to fill out an individual I-864 form or do we just need one I-864 from me and one I-864A from both of us? Since he's a member of my household I don't think he needs another I-864 but I just want to make sure...any help would be appreciated.

He will fill out I-864A form and you fill out the I-864 form. Use the newest ones from the USCIS website they are easier to understand.

If he is a member of your household and his income is being used in conjuction with the sponsors income on the I-864 so as to meet the poverty guidelines, he is not a joint sponsor as such and therefore does not complete an I-864 of his own. An I-864A is a contract between the sponsor and the household member which is submitted as an attachment to the sponsors I-864. So there will be only two forms needed.....one I-864 completed by the sponsor (yourself the USC petitioner) and one I-864A completed and signed by the sponsor and the household member.

Point of clarification: kiny was correct, the I-864A is filled out by both of them not just her father.

YuandDan, i would suggest you add some indicators of probabilities to some answers you are not absolutely sure about because some may take those answers and simply run with them before having a chance to read other people`s, perhaps more correct, viewpoints.

I must applaud you for putting up answers to a lot of questions on VJ site which i am sure has helped quite a lot of people but the way the world works.....one wrong answer that gets one person in a fix would probably erase all the good things you have done and continue to do here. Just remember to add a word of caution..."please check up on this" or "i think"...you know some indicator that makes the person pause and consider the answers. Most of your answers sound so definite, so 100% but they are not...........not all the time

You are on the right track. You will fill out one I-864 and you and your father both will fill out an I-864A. Your father does not need to fill out another I-864, since I-864A will serve the purpose.
