Ive been to Japan a lot of times and like what others are saying here --the reason why there's no looting there is because of 'culture'.

Here in the States its all about me me me.In Japan its all about 'us'. While some western countries are very individualistic Japanese culture promote community over individuality...

I firmly believe that a diet of raw tuna and boiled rice creates responsible citizens.

I don't think so. Back on page 2 I was saying it has to do partially with a homogenous population. However, I doubt Norwegians would fair as well as the Japanese people with their focus on the group and not individuals.

There is extreme poverty all over sub Saharan Africa and some parts have been gripped by savagery and civil war and others are doing just fine.

I suspect the explanation is local and not something that can be expressed as a set of broad principles.
