I'm sorry to sound disbelieving or uncharitable, but his English is expert in some places and overly tortured in others. Folks with English as a second language rarely master contractions (can't, don't, wouldn't) right off the bat. It sounds contrived.

The OP is from India! There's no way to tell, of course, but t's been my experience that people from India oftentimes have a better mastery of English than some USA natives. ;)

:o Maybe it's just me....but does anyone else question how he was able to come online and post here when he says the computer is disconnected???

LJ

There are places where one can get online without it being from home. Library, computer training centers, etc.

Our local hospital has free public internet access in the cafe.

I agree with you, but from what the OP is saying, his wife has him under lock and key and is very controlling. Do you honestly think she will let him off on his own...and I don't know about you, but if that were me, I wouldn't be posting here, I would be emailing my family and if I had gotten away from her, I would be trying to get into touch with my family..run to the police. Something other than posting here. Sorry, but IMO, something doesn't sound right.

Could this be a troll?

My roots (ethnicity) are from of India -- An "Indian male alpha" take this beating from his new wife is very unlikely (not saying impossible).

I think we are catering to somone's entertainment cravings :P

But, if this for real, then it's time to bail buddy.

Are you serious? It's a holiday weekend in the USA. If what we've been told is true, there's a good chance he doesn't have access to the Internet and respond.

Ok, ok, let's give the OP the benefit of the doubt. We'll assume he doesn't have any access to any computer this weekend, though if it was me in his place, I'd be constantly logging onto this website, looking to see what my options were. On the line here is his immigration status, something not to be taken too lightly at all.

Well, if I were in his shoes, and were so closely monitored and had limited outside access, I certainly would be spending whatever precious time and access I had looking for an immigration attorney to help me file the I-360, and not on reading VJ. :)

Can you smell what the rock is cooking......................................

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Perhaps I am just being very cautious in who I trust but something sounds wrong here. If this is all true...then go back home...I certainly wouldn't stay with someone like that!!!

Good point Laura !!!! ,

Public libraries have free internet access...

And maybe he stumbled upon this site while researching "immigration" to try to find help for his plight?

Always possible.
