That this is significant and tells you something about the good people of York, something that makes you feel superior to them and condescending towards. You came up with that all on your own. Brilliant work Holmes

Hey where is Sherlock Holmes when you need him? This is a mystery of Holmesian proportions.

for any sickies that may be lurking, that is not a reference to Johnny

But here's a good one for the detectives in the thread. Not long ago I found a .222 Remington cartridge in my car when cleaning it out. (If you do not know what a .222 Remington is, then you can't be a detective) Problem is that I have not owned a .222 rifle since the mid 1980's. Can you imagine that there are just .222 Remington cartridges lying about? Oh NO!

It seems you can't grasp the idea that such things aren't commonplace outside of your own metaphorical backyard.

That would explain the high crime rate in UK compared to my backyard.

I would bet that this would not make the news in a vast majority of the world. It seems to be an issue only in your metaphorical backyard.

You think a sub 150 word article in a local newspaper amounts to "making the news"?

The way you lot are carrying on about this - anyone would think it was on the BBC 6 O'Clock News.

My only comment about this story is that it "made the news" because finding a bullet in the street isn't a commonplace occurence. That's not untrue. However, as usual, the rampant hysteria and hyperbole comes from the other side of the fence.

You lot need to get a grip or pack an extra pair of underpants.

The lack of bullets. Maybe you have another explanation for UKs high crime rate.

:wow: Oh dear Gary - you seem to have totally gone off the rails there. The point was that finding a bullet on the street in a UK city is not a commonplace occurence - hence it appeared as a small footnote of a story in a local newspaper. You and others felt fit to laugh at the people of York and elavate the importance of the story far beyond its actual prominence (i.e. no prominence) in the local newspaper in question. My explanation for this weirdness - beside the need to mock UK citizens was that:

It seems you can't grasp the idea that such things aren't commonplace outside of your own metaphorical backyard.

To which you replied:

There is no continuation of meaning between my post that you quoted and your subsequent reply. It is simply a rather poor attempt to take the thread off-topic. Now if you are going to insist on changing the topic - perhaps another thread would be the place to do it in.

Of course if your premise for your new (totally unrelated) argument is that the lack of bullets being scattered about on UK streets is a reason for an alleged high crime rate - I'm going to have to    over that one and suggest that you either try again or that you seek help in order to make a coherent, logical argument.
