Hi - I am travelling to India with Indian visa as I am a US citizen and the Visa validity is only till 2 weeks before my return trip to

US. Will that be allright that my Indian Visa expired while I am in India. I am guessing it should be ok but would like some

other views as well.

Krish

Depends..what type of Visa is it? Is it Visitor's? or something else?

If you enter on the visa you will have to tell them how long you will be there. If it is over the duration of your visa, then yes that will be questioned just like anywhere else. I'm not sure what their proceedures are or if you can a secondary visa while entering the country or not or if they have any special visas for extended stays. You should contact the embassy about that BEFORE you leave.

As with having an expired visa could cause problems if you are caught. Now getting caught or found out is the question. I remember when I was there I never had anyone look at my passport. I was there for work, but my friend was able to get an extension on her visa because she opted to stay longer. I never had anyone even check my passport or my visa my entire trip (other then entering the country). But if you are found out, likely that will pose some interesting issues and problems for you including immediate deporation (like most other nations).

Now some countries (especially in Africa) will check your passport and your documents upon leaving the country as well. In that case then you would be found out. Never plan to be an illegal in a country. Always have a valid visa. Some nations aren't as forgiving as others and will immediately jail you in this situation...

I'm just a wanderer in the desert winds...
