Hi all

I'm looking for some advice. I'm currently petitioning for a CR-1/CR-2 visa for my wife and step daughter. We were moving along, dragging together all of our documentation for the NVC steps and we hit a road block on the police certificate from China.

My wife was a Chinese citizen and moved to Canada in 2002. In 2006 she became a Canadian citizen and so lost her Chinese citizenship in the process. We've managed to secure the Canadian certificate from the RCMP without any difficulty but China is proving more difficult. The Chinese PSB is saying that they can't supply one because she's not a Citizen or in China on a work visa (Z). Apparently prior citizenship doesn't count. When we go to China to visit family we both enter on a tourist ( L ) visa.

I notice on the visa reciprocity table for China the following comment: "Certificates are available for those in the J-1, Z, and X categories. The GOC does not issue police records for temporary residents of China in L or F visa categories."

Do you think our inability to produce the Chinese certificate will cause a problem with the visa? I'm going to call the NVC today to ask but I'm always wary of answers I get on the phone .

Thanks

Alex.
