We had a really easy interview. My husband was so nervous and I was tense. Appointment was at 10 am. We arrived about 9:40. Waited no longer than 5 minutes, probably more like 2 min. Interview lasted less than 10 min. We were back at our car before 10! Came in, sworn in, and begun. She first asked for picture ids and his passport. She took out the I-94.

She asked me first what is my current address, then DOB. And then I don't remember the rest of the order. But these are some of the questions she asked:

Me-She saw I'd been married before, asked how many times, asked if hubby had been married previously.

Him-his name, current address, DOB, parents' names, my maiden name, asked him 4 of the yes/no I-485 questions, if he worked currently or any time during his stay, if he was still a student.

How we met, if we had a large wedding, if we rented/bought, if it was house, apt, etc. If we had a rental agreement (which was already in packet), any new evidence (which we did--joint account, filed 2010 taxes, joint credit card, and my current paystubs.) Asked to see photo album, but she just flipped through them.

And that was basically it. Told him she was recommending for approval and he would receive his green card in 2-3 weeks. Then explained what to do to remove conditions. Was very simple. She did not make copies of any id's. Did not ask to see any originals. She was not overly friendly, just business-y. We are so relieved it is over! Thanks to everyone in IM2US for your help.

And now we are heading to San Diego next Friday to celebrate!!

Hi Katgrl,

I was reading your post and first of all want to congratulate you on your approval. My husband and I are just gathering all the forms ande going to be sending our AOS to Chicago soon and wanted to ask you a few questions im not sure if you know or can send me to someone on VJ that would. My husband came here last Nov/10 on a visit visa from Nigeria and we met online in Dec/10 and had instant connection, we were married in Feb/11 and now are going to file for AOS for his perm/residence....We have filed out the I-130/I-485/I-765/g-325 and finished medicals. I believe the cost in $1070.00 to be send along with paperwork, my other question is do we have to have his/my divorce papers, birth certicate for both of us, and police report from Nigeria as well to send along for AOS if we are filing with him being in the US already?

Thanks for your time and knowledge,

Olola22

You also will need to pay for the I-130 which is $420.

not sure about police papers, never heard that but surely you'll need the birth certificates and if divorced yes divorce papers, (although i don't know if married and divorced in nigeria, i doubt uscis can find that out, I wouldn't bother with that)

you need two separate checks, not one!

also check the page below all your questions answered there, i used this page to gather/assembly my aos package

Yes, you will need to provide proof of all previous marriages and divorces.. The forms ask if you've been married before, and if you lie in that, it's a serious matter and can get you into a lot of trouble. Has nothing to do with where your previous marriage/divorce took place. You will need birth certificates of both (or for the US citizen, copy of his/her entire passport), and if the petitioner has a criminal record in his/her home country, then police records as well. Do not lie in your forms about anything or misrepresent the truth in any way. Always best to disclose everything up front. It will come and bite you up in the a** otherwise.
