Does anyone know if we need to send the originals of boarding passes or visa stamps (which would mean I would have to send the passport, but someone mentioned that is illegal)? I ask 'cause on the VJ site it says to send all original documention used for the K1 to the finace.

YOu only send the originals if they tell you other than that you send copies. You have to make a copy of your passport. You dont have to copy the whole thing just the parts that have writing on them and stamps.

I sent my fiance then a copy of my whole complete package that I submitted plus pictures from my trip and email and other forms of communication.

Please use the guides on VJ to help you .

Sending a passport in the mail is not illegal, though I would send copies of it not the origional.

I send the passport in the mail to a Visa service near Washington and they take it to the Chinese Consulate to get a visitors Visa for China. Saves me the trouble of traveling all the way to Washington to do that.

So sending passport in mail is OK. But if you don't have to then don't.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

One might want to take copies of the entire passport. There was at least one case of an RFE asking for that here on VJ.

I guess the original documentation mentione on the guide are the NOAs and the documents in the initial packet sent when you filed. You might want to check with the embassy or consulate, though. Whilst a conof might ask for original documents submitted to USCIS and received by the petitioner from USCIS, some consulates don't really ask for them (e.g., Brazil).

I only offer advice - not even legal. Just the plain and simple kind.

When I sent the K1 in I included copies of my passport stamps and the front page of it with my info.

Yes, when one send the I-129f copies are they need. I don't see why a petitioner would need to send the original passport to the consulate/embassy, though. Most of them accept copies of any document needed to prove the petitioner's citizenship (birth certificate, passport or certificate of naturalization). Again, the best thing to do is contact the consulate/embassy your fiance will go through and ask them about which original documents one should send them.

Also, the affidavit of support (duly notarized) and the supporting documents should be originals, and not copies.
