Its terrible. Ghana timelines are very heartbreaking. It really bothers me that our neighbour Nigeria's timelines are faster and better, although they are more than us in population wise. Why can't US Embassy in Ghana work faster like US Embassy in Nigeria ? What is going on at the US embassy in Ghana? Are they working to break families apart?

I think it is time to start up the mass letter writing campaigns again. I see that you are just beginning. Just hang in there and it will be alright. Know that when you complete, you are probably a year plus away until you will be reunited to your spouse. I am tempted to call CNN and any other major broadcast who will be willing to do a story on why CR petitions at the Embassy in Accra takes longer than anywhere else. I am tired of this stuff.

It is absolutely ridiculous! My IR1 interview was originally scheduled to be processed through US embassy in Ghana as well but after 3months of the excruating wait I decided to Switch embassys to my home country(Nigeria)Note:I also have Ghana Residency and as A matter of Fact, I had my wedding in Ghana. In less than 40days after I switched embassys to Lagos, Nigeria I had 2 interviews and I have been in the US for almost 2 months now.So I have been there before and the wait is killing, I pray for strength for you guys cos it is not funny at all.My case was originally closed at NVC on May 7th 2010 and was again closed after changing embassys cos of the new case number from ACC to LGS on the 6th of October 2010 and had my first interview on December 1st 2010 got 221g for missing Documents and had the final interview on the 11th January. Its quite surprising that with Nigeria bigger population they have been able to schedule interview faster than Ghana with a smaller one.All we hear is that the embassy is staff strapped and high volume of DV winners. Please Hang in there and God will see you guys through. You are in my prayers for a change in your situation.

Unfortunately the Accra embassy is SLOW in granting interviews. It seems to have gotten worse in the last 2 years. One thing is that waivers are processed through Accra and this may contribute to the long wait for interviews. Even so, its ridiculous.

Bee,

waivers or not, we have paid and deserve the same courtesy as everyone else. Our petitions should not be put on hold for DV winners and sorry k-1s but I feel that those who are already married should have first dips at interviews then K-1s then DVs. By the way what is the reason of giving Ghanaians more DV winners? Ghana is relatively a safer country and the economy is doing well.

We should use a two prong approach. There are personal stories behind those ACC numbers and we can start by having local channels pick it up. We know that the letter writing campaign did not go anywhere as we got the same excuse. So the Embassy has to come up with realistic reasons as to why they take so long. Once the local news channels pick up, then we can concentrate on CNN and the likes.

This foolishness has to end in Accra. if interested, inbox me your email information and we can begin devising and fine tuning our strategy

There are different processes for each of the visas. K-1 interviews are scheduled by the embassies, IR1/CR1 by NVC.

I understand the frustration with the system and the wait (feel free to take a look at my timeline), but we ALL wait to be joined together with our loved ones. Its not fair to say that those who are married get priority. If I file before you, married or not, I should get approved before you. We ALL pay for this service. Plain and simple. It irks me when people say that just because they are married they deserve to be together faster.

I don't know how the DV lottery system works.

As for the waivers, Accra handles waivers from other countries besides Ghana (Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Chad, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo), and these are people who have already been waiting upward of a year for approval. Its a long process and it takes time. Nigeria does not deal with these issues. The Accra embassy is OVERWORKED, they need more personnel to deal with the magnitude of the cases they handle but that does not seem to be happening. You wanted a realistic reason, there it is.

I'm not saying that the embassy is doing a great job. They suck at what they are doing. I'm just trying to put it in perspective. I have done the letter writing previously, signed petitions etc etc and nothing has changed. Maybe something can change this time

You know I am down for any activity that will give us some attention. If we do the writing thing again, I say we pick one or two key people and bombard them with letters meaning sending back to back letters. One of the problems we had the last time is that we couldn't tell how many people wrote letters and there are not a lot of cr1's for Ghana on this site. Maybe we need to hit a site like Joyonline or Ghanaweb to find more people waiting for a cr1 interview. Anyway - Agynyame - count me in. I think you also know how to find me on face book.

Staying strong and patient in love and faith!

This Ghana interview wait thing is outrageous.! my case was completed since April 2010(IR2- for my son). And still no interview date as of yet. Others seem to have waited a year for a date so hopefully, maybe i might be blessed with one next month or 2. but with the way things are going, nobody really knows. I've called NVC several times and still nothing. i miss my son and i just have to be strong as a mother and pull thru.

Bee,

I know. I was just frustrated last week. I thought K-1 and IR scheduling are both done by the NVC. So I am intrigued to know the reason why K-1 are a bit faster than Immediate Relatives.
