Hi Guys,

Anyone know of a decent way to watch Eastenders here?! I'm fed up of all the wee teasers they give you on bbc.co.uk!

Just to complicate things, we don't have a TV so it'll have to be DVD or internet!!

Much obliged!

Adam.

On Satellite TV, Dish for example, subscription.

Or Perr to Peer, but never tried that.

It's only on Dish Network that you can get Eastenders, and its $9.95 a month to get it. They are about 1 month behind the UK. Its not available (legally) through any other provider in the US.

You can by UK dvd's at Amazon.co.uk though they did not have much listed, I tried also bbcamerica and nothing there.

I have ordered UK DVD's from Amazon.uk.co before and they will ship them to the US. The last ones were Hustle series 1 and 2.

Keep in mind DVDs from UK are both Pal and Region 2 coded. They wont play on American TVs and DVD players. They do play on a computer but may change the region code assigned to the DVD drive, and are allowed only a few changes before it locks. What I do to get around this is to copy the DVD's using a program called DVD shrink the copies have the region code removed and play on computer DVD drive without changeing the region code away from Region 1 (USA)

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

Is now a US Citizen immigration completed Jan 12, 2012.

Thanks for all your help so far, everyone!

Lina, it's not that bad... by far and away the easiest solution is to watch them on your computer. Download VLC (www.videolan.org) and you shouldn't have region code problems. As someone already said, you *might* still have a problem with newer drives, but there's still ways round that, too.

I got a free DVD player through a credit card and it plays all regions. You can also buy region free DVD players so don't panic. Last I read there was some talk of getting them for around $40 on a special offer. Of course, there are other methods of getting your player to become region free if you search

I also recommend UKNova. I think they have regular uploads of Eastenders & the community is full of expats.

I haven't moved to the US yet, but I've been using it for a couple of years. It's come in useful if I forgot to record shows or read about them after they've already been on.

Does anyone know what is up with UKNova? I tried to click on the Signup section to register there, but all I get is a semi-blank page with no way of registering(I just see the menu at the top, like something is wrong with the site). My wife wants to watch Eastenders here in the US but we don't wanna pay for Satellite yet. Plus I'm a big BitTorrent fan.

Hiya London,

UKnova have a limited number of registered users allowed. When you see nothing when you click signup, they have filled their quota of members. Keep checking back - when you see the signup info, you're in!

I still haven't managed it yet!!

I agree, once you get your ratio sorted, UKNova is the best one out there for programmes.
