Got my Interview and Oath all in one day today!

Best day of my life.

Interview today.

I was all worried for some reason as I've heard all the horror stories.

Got there a 8AM for interview at 830AM

Spent most of the challenging question time going over the 6 of 100 questions

IO went through the application fast noting I was divorced.

Then I signed it and wondered if I wanted to go to the Oath ceremony at lunch.

Sure! Sign me up!

It was as if I had been approved already.

Is that the case? Do you think the NBC approves most cases of little concern and the IO just rubber stamps things?

Thanks to all my friends on VJ for the suggestions

Congratulations. Mine was pretty quick too and the IO made sure that I stuck around for the oath ceremony as well. I'm sure it feels good to get it all done with. BTW, if you're intending to apply for your passport, the seattle passport office is holding a 'passport day' on march 12. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/travel/2014379752_trpassports06.html . I wish I saw this last week before I made my application in person at the post office.

What about that signature at the bottom of your certificate? Was it hand signed or a rubber stamped signature? Wifes' had the rubber stamp signature by the then acting director, see they still have another acting director now for the USCIS. I gather the office manager of that field office determines whether its a same day oath or a really huge ceremony where a judge hands out the certificate. Still the same rubber stamp signature, and what difference does it make if the office manager hands you that certificate or whether a federal judge or some politician hands it to you? Neither of them sign it.

Was good news to me, even with a decision cannot be made at this time, still had my stepdaughter read and sign the oath at her interview. Just about the only time some kind of proof is available to them that you did read and sign the oath. Certainly not done at the oath ceremony, still consider that simply presence and lip service. Plus we have to schedule another 400 mile round trip. Really envious about field offices that have the same day oath. Of course that depends upon whether you get that decision cannot be made at this time for some totally unknown reason. Again the reason we were finally given was a miscommunication error, but they sure didn't use that error behind it, USCIS does not make errors.

Then did you sign your certificate in front of an officer? Or did they just hand it to you and said good luck and good bye? Was your photo embedded in the certificate? Wifes' is held on by a tiny piece of double sided tape.

Did you watch any videos? Won't comment on the president at the time that was a draft dodger or had 540 counts of breaking the US Constitution laws that he managed to get away with. As we know, a ten year old parking ticket can give you plenty of headaches. But did watch that video on how beautiful America is, but already been there and done that. Can't never argue that we do live in a very beautiful and diversified country. But not too many scenes of the slums right near Washington DC, Chicago, or Milwaukee, well, lets put that at a zero. Wonder if this time will get to see Obama give the welcoming speech via a prerecorded tape.

What I really missed waiting in the waiting room, we do know why they call it that, you do wait, was that portrait of GWB staring a me was gone. And where is the portrait of Obama? Could see the nail hole on the wall where GWB portrait was hung. Wonder what they did with that portrait?

Just hope March 24th is a clear day, took as long as nine hours to drive to St. Paul during a snow blizzard, but if we have a day like that, will do it, just to get this thing over with.
