Hello everyone,

How's it going? I have a question for those who have had an experience with getting a Hepatitus B vaccination. How long does it usually take? I have heard that it's 3 shots total which can take some time. Like up to 6 months. Years ago my fiance Cherry had two shots completed, but never finished getting the third shot. I believe that she has to start the cycle all over again. Is this true? Anyways, if it takes months to complete the entire cycle, I would prefer for her to do that now; rather than wait for them to tell her she needs to get it at St. Lukes and to delay her arrival coming to the US. Will St. Lukes allow for her to get the vaccine somewhere else before she goes for her medical? And does she need this vaccine before she leaves the Philippines? Or can she get it in the US? I just recently sent in the I-129f pertition for the K-1 Visa for her. Thanks for your help in advance.

St. Lukes doesn't require the Hep-B vaccination.

She can get it on her own if she wants to, either in 'Pinas or the States.

You can google how long it takes to complete the Hep-B vaccination.

Thanks for the response Tahoma. The thing is that I read on the the immigration website that links from the USCIS website. It has Hepatitus B on the list of vaccinations. Maybe I'm reading it wrong, but it appears that it is required. It's good to get the shot anyways. But I wanted her to get it now so that it doesn't slow down the K-1 Visa process. The Hep B vaccination is 3 shots that takes 6 months to complete. But that's good news that you say it's not required. I was wondering how do you know this? Do you know it by reading/researching it somewhere or do you know by personal experience? Thanks for your help and your knowledge.

My wife has never had a Hep-B vaccination. Neither has her friend who is also a K-1er. They both completed their medical.

In all the time I have been here on VJ, I've never once read where it was required for anyone from the Philippines.

Lots of people who have no vaccination records whatsoever complete their medical at St. Lukes without having a Hep-B vaccination.

I don't think the HPV vaccination is required for everyone. Chinook did not get it.

I seem to remember reading somewhere about an age limit for HPV. If I remember correctly, if you're over 26, then you don't have to get the HPV vaccination.

I hope someone will chime in about this.

This is good to know. Thanks for telling me about the personal experiences. So I guess my fiance won't need to get the Hep B vaccine at all. I was just worried that it takes 6 months to complete, but I have no worries at all now. Thanks again.

Great link. Thanks. Just what I was looking for.

Hi,

HBV is not required, HPV is.

I've read that the Human Papillomavirus has a cut off age of 26. I didn't see it listed as a requirement on the CDC link list here on this thread. Just one less vaccine to worry about. My fiance Cherry does not like shots and even asked me to move to the Phillipines so that she can avoid them. And the up close and personal medical exam too.
