My wife just brought back Tuyo with her last month when she came back from vacation. Went through the agricultural inspection and they did not say anything. Usually fish is accepted dried or canned while meat (pork, beef, chicken) products are usually not allowed.

Make sure you DECLARE it on your form.

OK, my wife will be coming home in a couple of weeks, so I did some research and this is from the US CBP website

So, it looks like any kind of processed fish is OK.

dried food are okay to bring.. i do it all the time.. what gets flagged if the fish is not that dry and is still hydrated and that will be seized and taken away.. so make sure when u buy the dry fish make sure it looks really dehydrated..

tips on how to package the dry fish ^^

put it in a square plastic package and tape it (usually the place u buy the dry fish can do that for u).. get 2 pieces of newspaper place the dry fish on the center and wrap it like a present^^.. so its all nice and tight inside the news paper.. next use packaging tape and tape the whole thing ^^ so no air can go in or out to make it moisten up and have that strong smell fuming around..

when u get to the customs declare u brought DRY fish .. sometimes they inspect it sometimes they dont.. as long as theirs no signs of the fish looking like its not dehydrated your fine..

personally been going to the philippines 6-7 times a year for the past 5 years bringing back dry fish on request from family and have not had any issues...

hope that helps
