March 2011 AOS Filers

We just got our EAD in the mail today, but guess what? Once again USCIS shows their inability to pay attention to detail and they spelled my wife's middle name wrong - by one letter. They put an a at the end instead of an o. So I called, and they said sorry, we'll fix it and it you'll know something within 30 days. She also told me that the current card with the error would not work for us to get her social security number. That is what we were hoping to do right away so we can get the rest of our tax return that we couldn't get without her SSN.

Luckily, we have our interview for AOS on June 16th, but I foresee this name issue being a problem down the road, especially considering that they have messed it up twice already!

Couple of questions about the interview.. Do they normally tell us right away if it is approved? How long does it normally take afterwards to get the green card sent out? The interview notice says to bring the affidavit of support and supporting documents (unless previously submitted), problem is, our Co-Sponsor (my dad) used his 2009 taxes when we filed, because that was still the most recent tax year. He filed an extension, because he is an accountant and a tax preparer and always does his last, so should we take a copy of his extension and also something showing his income from last year? Or will they even ask for it probably, since we already submitted all of information earlier?

Received our Green Card and EAD/AP Card in the Mail today!! Soo excited!! Cant believe we are finally done with Immigration for awhile!!

..... received ead/ap card in the mail !!!!!!

but...... they mispelled the last letter in my middle name (back of the card)... instead of an "e", they typed "a"

i got already an SSN prior to this combo card....

question:

will this be a major issue since this card will be superceded by the GC, which hopefully be received end of this month, and hopefully with the correct spelling of my middle name

this combo card was issued by MO (Montana)...

and my AOS was forwarded to CSC....

right now, this combo card will be used for emergency cases only....

i dont plan to work yet..... and no reason to travel yet -

but nevertheless, will call USCIS for the slight error

im just hoping that it wont affect the release of the GC....

You need to make sure that is corrected, or else there is a big chance that your GC will come out wrong as well. It takes about 6 months to get a corrected GC back, so its not worth it! When they got a letter of my name wrong on the biometrics letter, I called and requested a formal request to fix it. They gave me a service request receipt number and an email when it was fixed. Took about 3 days.

Ok a little surprise today, we got a letter answering our service request we open exactly a month ago and we got biometrics appointment for his AOS dated for the 15 of June. In the letter there is no mention of EAD/AP.

We are kind of happy, I have some hope and starting to think we will get green card before EAD/AP maybe... Still no explanation why EAD/AP is lost on limbo.

Congrats to all the recent activity! I was wondering if anyone has gotten their GC approved who has been transferred to CSC? Seems like those with interviews are making out better than the transfers. Just called USCIS and they said CSC is processing from November- I know that's not true because so many feb filers were already approved and I think a couple march as well. Oh well....Thanks guys! Congrats again!

Yes, ours was transfered to CSC and we were approved and we filed in March so I think they are moving along faster than we think!!

Congrats to everyone who is making progress

I'd be curious to know the local offices of those who have interviews scheduled...

Our case hasn't been transfered, hasn't been issued an RFE and hasn't been assigned an interview date (that we are aware of.) The I-485 processing time for our local office in Orlando says Nov. 19, 2010 (as of March 31, 2011.) It also says the processing times are updated around the 15th of each month, so that Nov. 2010 date is at least 2 "updates" out of date.

On the other hand, as you mentioned, CSC also lists Nov. 2010 as the current case processing although many who filed after that have received their GCs so I'm not sure what to believe for any USCIS office location....

The ones on the list who have received their green cards were transfers as none of them had an interview to attend to!
