ok I just received my AP+EAD combo card in the mail! woohoo! Its nuts considering I received a text/email this morning saying they had just mailed out a notice to me and my case was in post-decision activity, and not in card-production mode. The more I learn about the workings of USCIS, the more I am baffled.

Day 01 - March 18th: Received by USCIS (Signed for by "CHYRA")

Day 33 - April 20th: Received 4 NOAs via text and email

Day 34 - April 21st: Checks cashed

Day 38 - April 25th: Received 4 NOAs in the mail

Day 41 - April 28th: Received Biometrics letter for May 13th

Day 42 - April 29th: Called to request expedited AP

Day 45 - May 2nd: Walked in for Bio at Buffalo, NY

Day 47 - May 4th: Expedite request for AP denied (email)

Day 49 - May 6th: Contacted Senator's office for help with AP expedite

Day 56 - May 13th: Senator's office contacted USCIS for AP expedite

Day 56 - May 13th: Received Initial AOS Interview Request! (set for June 13th)

Day 57 - May 14th: AP and EAD approved via email (notices mailed out on May 5th and May 11th resp.)

Of course, the Green Card is the goal of AOS but EAD/AP together allow a person start living their life a little more while waiting on the GC to be approved. I like to think of it as a head start on living a "normal" life.

And, it seems to me that USCIS has been busy this week!

Did you apply for AP?

No, we decided not to apply for advance parole so his card reads "not valid for re-entry". Hoping the GC will be here soon enough to negate the need for the AP...hopefully!

the card ....can get my driver lic. with the EAD now?

From my understanding you can now apply for a SSN (which my husband was able to do with no problem having his EAD) and once you have a SSN you can apply for a drivers license.

It depends on the state. Most (but not all) will accept an EAD for driver's license purposes. Check with your state's Dept of Motor Vehicles..
