Wondering about AOS and EAD

I am wondering why I read some post on here that say your EAD will not be approved if your AOS is not ....Today I was looking through some post and saw someones EAD was approved and then ;like 5 months later they got a RFE for the AOS.....

You cannot apply for EAD (employment authorization document), unless you apply for AOS first or together with it. EAD should be approved first, before the AOS approval (because after your AOS is approved you receive your green card and you don't need to have EAD anymore in order to work legally). Although in some cases I heard people saying they got their AOS approved before their EAD got processed, which is messed up, but what can you do, the immigration services aren't perfect in this country

The question is worded somewhat vaguely. EAD normally does get approved before AOS. It's feasible that they approve EAD and then review AOS application, hence the RFE.

Also, EAD will be revoked if AOS is denied. Maybe that's what Rainman1973 reffers to
