Wow? Our son had left the airport in Moscow just hours before one of these religious god-fearing souls blew up the place. He is a terrible Ukrainian young man guilty of being a student going to Donetsk to visit Bahbuska. For this he should risk being exploded? He has classes in the area of Moscow where they were arresting thousands of Muslim protesters. Do you have children? Do they go to places with riots and bombs exploding in the name of "god"? Does your wife have to call her son and hope he answers the phone because a bomb went off in the subway terminal where he transfers trains on the way to class? Wow.

While my wife's cousin was doing military service in the Russian army he was sent to Chechnya. He was captured and held prisoner. Through a lot of searching and negotiations his family was able to "buy" his release. It certainly altered his life and his personality, and not in a good way. At least he is alive.

Are you insinuating the Russians are blameless?

I don't know how much you've read up on the conflict over there, but it's pretty much a two-way street. Hardly ever in conflicts do you see atrocitites committed by just one side. There's almost always an action/reaction going on to escalate the severity. If the Chechens get no slack, neither should the Russians.

My wife's "buddy" right before she came here was an FSB operative who'd go back and forth to Chechnya for several months at a time. I guess he really wanted to marry her but she said she'd never marry him because he wasn't right in the head. I guess it wasn't too difficult for her to imagine someone who's raped, tortured and killed more than a few people would probably commit domestic violence as well.

She said he was always good to her and kind, etc., but she knew he had a darker half and didn't want to ever be on the receiving end of it.

I think she thinks she can beat me up so she's not scared of me!

Back in the '90s kavkaz.ru had videos of mujahideen cutting off the heads of Russian soldiers, attacking convoys, etc. Post 9/11 they were shut down for a while. They've PC'd it up in recent times but if you search around a bit, you can find some "questionable" videos on there.

It's an interesting site, to say the least.

I'm still not sure what the Caucus country's have in common with Russia. It's pretty obvious they want their independence. What's not surprising though is that Russians still haven't figured this out.

Russia has always been seeking an access to the sea for trade. That was a cause for a great deal of wars Russia has ever been in.

Also... let's say American Idians all gathered in one state and they want independence. Would you let them to? Or maybe West Coast wants independence, what would be reaction of the US government? NO WAY, right?

A good example though is Great Britain, and people from Northern Ireland fighting for independence. Also, Basques fighting for independence from Spain. Americans keep their mouths shut about those cases, so why do you want to tear Russia apart?

We know what America would do with the Indians, we did it. We "gave" them independence and their "own country" and then took it away by overwhelming military force when something we wanted was discovered there. Usually gold or oil.

That said, it seems to me that, as usual, all the talk about independence and blah, blah, blah boils down to one thing...religion. Nothing else. I do not understand the mindset that would somehow excuse a religious terrorist from blowing up an airport or subway station in Moscow, but thinks it is terrible if terrorists from the same religion blow up buildings in New York or a subway station in London. The terrorists justify their acts against ALL countries with the SAME excuse.

The common denominator is religion, not invasion by foreign powers. If the acts of terror were ONLY against nations that had "invaded" you could say that
