To all Dominican Republic petitioners:

I was reading Aztec's summary of her interview experience. (Congrats again! :))

Can anyone please explain to me what this $210 fee is? Is this something that everyone pays, regardless of the type of visa?

Thanks,

Everyone must pay a fee for their Visa (no matter if you're approved or not). Different visas may have different fees. Read the embassys website for more info about Cr1 visa fees. The link is in the Embassy Info page above.

But the $404 that I already paid through the NVC was for his CR1 visa. What's the $210 for?

Then you should be fine. I know those who apply for the K1 must pay the $210 the day of the interview.

K1 Visa Process -> 12/09-06/10 Married -> 09/10/10 AOS Process -> 09/10-12/10 Removal of Conditions-> 09/12-07/13

I just found the following on the embassy's website:

http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/k_visa_fee_increase.html

Fee increase for K visas

Effective Friday June 04, 2010, the application fee for K visas for fiancé(e)s of U.S. citizens will be $350, US$140 dollars to be paid at Banco Popular and US$210 to be paid in the Consular Section on the day of the interview

I think the $210 is for the K visas (fiance) only, whereas the CR1 visas (spouse) are paid in full through the NVC.

Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks,

The above link states that married coupled only need to pay the $404 fee prior to the interview. You have already paid.

I was TOTALLY thinking the same exact thing!!! In our Interview instructions it said be prepared to pay $400 at the interview IF the fee was not already paid. I was totally confused until now.

Seems like us married people already paid our fees to NVC prior to the interview

Right. I think there are just so much mixed information that it gets confusing sometimes as the processes and routes for a fiance and a spousal visa are different, so things are done at different times.

It can freak us out...LOL. :hehe:

How long from the time you submitted all your paperwork to t NVC did it take for you to get the interview email? I'm going nutso...

O.k. so I mailed everything around the 20th of december (and by everything I mean the last step of the ds230...I had already mailed the aos stuff). Then on January 11, 2011 we received an RFE for a stupid, stupid mistake (wrong size photos sent! we sent 1.5" x 2 " and they needed 2" by 2"). SO...that pushed us back almost a WHOLE month. I sent the right size photos and our case was complete at NVC on February 14 (L) We received our notice of interview on February 28th. Our interview is April 6th :) Hope that helps!

Thanks,

Thanks for the congratulations! The 210 is the fee one has to pay at the embassy on the day of the interview for the K1 visa. An additional 140 had to be paid at the Bnaco Popular prior to the interview. The cost of the visa is 350. For those of you filing for the CR1 the process is different. I believe you paid all your dues at the NVC stage. Good luck! (F)
