True in either the federal or our state senate. Would think at least one party member would deviate. Its like just two guys are running our entire country telling them exactly how to vote. This is not a democracy but a dictatorship!!

Question is, whom to write to, surely not your senator on this issue, nor congressman because they are just the same. Not even the president, yet another party member. We are screwed!!!

Big question, is what to do about it? Another tea party like in Boston? But surely not the new tea party, the same thing all over again.

Repeal the Seventeenth Amendment. That should get the Senators back to looking out for their individual state's interest, and not worry about getting reelected every six years.

Nothing can be done about it. The two major parties are too well entrenched. Even at the state levels they have laws that they came up with to ensure that only those two parties can participate in freely. Since they are so well entrenched and have all levers of power and have the major networks on their side then even when new blood comes in and new nascent parties come they can easily usurp the ideas and bring them into the fold.

Party lines are meaningless when your state is willing to toss you out of your seat.

Of course being how much the party system has been placed as such a wonderous thing, it'd be hard to get away from even then. A shame really. The worst things the founders called each other were 'party men.' Which was very insulting.
