I'm waiting for the first fairly prominent politician to "come out of the closet" as being in an open relationship. Nothing wrong in it if everyone agrees to it, but it's probably more of a career-killer to say "Hey, I see other women/men and it's cool with my spouse" than to run as an openly gay person. Seems rather silly to me.

Them's San Francisco values.

Of course it's silly but then a lot of what is accepted is silly like pretending gay people are a threat to morality, decency, the family and the fabric of society as we know it. It's time for American politics to grow up a bit. Politicians should not have to pretend they believe in god or exist in a perfect family in order to present themselves as suitable candidates for government. A lot of nonsense and leads to these stupid stories that are about as interesting as watching paint dry to someone outside of the immediate family.

On a tangent, the "what's not really news but will get national media coverage' hit a new nadir the other day, Lyndsey Lohan caught shop lifting! Yeah, that's a national news headline if ever I heard one

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Well, you know me and my "West Coast values"!laughing.gif I'm surprised at how many people I know who are in open relationships and seem to be doing just fine. It's far better than to betray the trust of your loved one and go behind their back.

But then I'm a West Coast liberal, what do you expect? FREE LOVE FOR ALL!!!

President George H W Bush - Atheists aren't citizens or patriots

(this is shrub's father)

When George Bush was campaigning for the presidency, as incumbent vice-president, one of his stops was in Chicago, Illinois, on August 27, 1987. At O'Hare Airport he held a formal outdoor news conference. There Robert I. Sherman, a reporter for the American Atheist news journal, fully accredited by the state of Illinois and by invitation a participating member of the press corps covering the national candidates, had the following exchange with then-Vice-President Bush.

Sherman: What will you do to win the votes of the Americans who are atheists?

Bush: I guess I'm pretty weak in the atheist community. Faith in God is important to me.

Sherman: Surely you recognize the equal citizenship and patriotism of Americans who are atheists?

Bush: No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God.

Sherman (somewhat taken aback): Do you support as a sound constitutional principle the separation of state and church?

Bush: Yes, I support the separation of church and state. I'm just not very high on atheists.

Well, you know me and my "West Coast values"!laughing.gif I'm surprised at how many people I know who are in open relationships and seem to be doing just fine. It's far better than to betray the trust of your loved one and go behind their back.

Either that, or he's someone else's stalking horse. My guess is he's working for Romney and his job is to attack Palin and Huckabee.

Romney needs a lot more help than that. He seems nice and all. No Newt wants to be president but you may be right. He is a smart man and has to know he has no chance. I think he is hoping for a decent showing then come into a role in the government.
