The American electorate is not going to hold adultery or divorce against someone. Not gonna happen.

Gingrich's mistreatment of the women in his life will be held against him, but primarily by a bloc of voters who vote Dem anyway. So wrt to a GOP primary, it's a non-issue.

As for the Bible freaks on the right... they want to win in 2012 more than anything else. They won't care about this either if they think Newt can win.

What has making excuses for committing adultery got to do with political affiliation or ideology? There is nothing Conservative or Liberal about it, anyone who does it is an ignorant lying #######. If you don't want an exclusive sexual relationship, don't have one, but don't pretend you do just to satisfy the morality curtain twitchers.

I just don't understand this desire to roll out Clinton every time adultery is mentioned as if somehow that's the bench mark. FFS, adultery is adultery, period - it inevitably implies that you lie about your sexual fidelity. It may mean that you lie about all kinds of things, or it may not. Adulterers come from all walks of life; there is nothing that links adultery to any specific political ideology - it's got nothing to do with politics whatsoever so why do people want to try to pretend that it has?

I'm waiting for the first fairly prominent politician to "come out of the closet" as being in an open relationship. Nothing wrong in it if everyone agrees to it, but it's probably more of a career-killer to say "Hey, I see other women/men and it's cool with my spouse" than to run as an openly gay person. Seems rather silly to me.
