Hello! I was wondering if anyone who had recently or is soon moving from the UK to America knows of ways to ship stuff that doesnt cost an arm a leg and your firstborn child. my fiance is a light packer, but hes a carpenter so he'd really like to bring all his hand tools over

How much do they all weigh? Maybe he'd be better off to have them as excess baggage?

15/07/2010 - We finally put in the i129f application - after shortly considering me going there on VWP, marrying and trying to Adjust Status, but was too risky

03/01/2011 - NOA2 on the day Dawn returned to NY after spending Christmas with me

10/02/2011 - I visited NY for 3 weeks (let this hold up the K1 process)

28/02/2011 - Medical

29/03/2011 - K1 Interview at London Embassy - Visa granted!

01/04/2011 - Visa in hand

Next Stage

03/05/2011 - POE in JFK - can't wait!

04/06/2011 - Our Wedding Day :)

He is taking excess baggage, but his tools probably won't be able to come with that, as they'd make his bag way heavier than the limits.

I just moved from London to California and honestly - baggage was WAY cheaper than anything I found. I flew BA and purchased extra suitcases; I had three with me. It was just over 50 quid a suitcase, I think. I contacted shipping companies, too, and to send a medium-ish sized box on a boat would have cost over 200 pounds...

He is taking excess baggage, but his tools probably won't be able to come with that, as they'd make his bag way heavier than the limits.

Re. the shipping companies I looked into, I just went to TNT Magazine's web site - they have a lot of shipping companies lists 'cos of all the Aussies / Kiwis that go back home... that was where I started. You can get quotes online and such.

Depends on where in the US you're going too, probably. California's far away ;-) You might have better luck.
