Permanent address, before adjustment?

Our application keeps getting delayed, and it's making me very nervous about whether I'll have time to go home to give birth. :(

The most recent problem arose just today. We recently added me to my husband's bank account, making it a joint account, as further proof of a bona fide marriage; however, the bank just called us and said they can't do it after all, since they need me to give them a permanent US address.

How do I make my current address, where I've been for years now, my permanent address, before I even submit my application for adjustment of status? I don't even understand what makes an address "permanent." :(

Married since 03/02/2011, AOS from F-1 visa, green card granted 05/24/2011.
Blessed with a healthy baby boy, 08/19/2011! We get to keep our family together! Thank you! smile.png

What kind of other proof of bona fide marriage do you guys have? Insurance, lease? And, you are pregnant - can't get much better proof than that. If that is the only thing that is delaying your application now, I would say just send it out with what you got, sort out the address thing with the bank and have the proof of joint accounts ready for interview - assuming you have some other proof to submit.

Did the bank say anything else? Did you ask them what they need as proof of a 'permanent US address'? Seems weird to me, I never had any issues opening a bank account on my own or being added to my husbands. In both cases the bank did require proof of address, but all I needed to do was show them some mail coming to me, with my name on it, to our address.

I would forget the bank for now and file the AOS.

A person living in the USA as a NON-Resident has no "Permanent" address other that the address back in the home country the have a temporary residency. Persons in the USA on a student visa are temporary residents.

You need to become a PERMANENT resident before can claim to have a permanent residence in the USA. Green-Card indicates you are a permanent resident.

I guess we'll just submit. We have an image of my ultrasound (but no real proof he's the dad, though if they want we can do a paternity test once the kid's out - both him and I know he's the dad, but I'm scared the USCIS will question it), joint leases for the last year and a half (couldn't find copies further back), and marriage license. We don't have any joint insurances or joint bills, since almost everything's been in my name. Though maybe we could submit a copy of bills in his name that was paid with my credit card? We also have about 10 photos pre-marroage (the rest was lost when my hard drive crashed this fall), and wedding photos etc. I'm pretty scared this won't be enough, especially since most of these things are from before we got married.

Did the bank say anything else? Did you ask them what they need as proof of a 'permanent US address'? It must vary from bank to bank or state to state, then. When we first added me to his account, they seemed to have some issues with it, since I wasn't a citizen and didn't have a SSN. When I gave my address then, it seemed fine. That was two weeks ago. Then suddenly they called me yesterday and said it didn't "work," whatever that means. I asked about it, and the lady just said, "I don't know, but I need a different US address, that is your permanent address."

Regarding the paternity, you could just have the doctor write a note or maybe use something off of your chart that your husband comes to the appointments with you. It sucks to have a microscope on you and think that you might have to go through extraneous tests that you wouldn't need to otherwise... so maybe trying to do something to preempt your worry would help?

AOS for my husband
8/17/10: INTERVIEW DAY (day 123) APPROVED!!

ROC:
5/23/12: Sent out package
2/06/13: APPROVED!
