Just had my interview passed the civics test & was handed a paper that saaid decison cannot be made. When I asked my IO he told me a story about how my file was lost. I actually believed it until I logged into VJ and saw 2 people with the exact same story including the lost doc part.

Is this a a new thing that they just started. Are the really losing documents

Is there anyone this ever happened to who can tell me whats going on please.

Well your file needs to be reviewed by a supervisor. This is often caused by a troubled past/history of the applicant.

Files are not lost, simply misplaced, happened to us three times already, was expecting that to happen again to my stepdaughter, but this time, they had her file, but used the word, "miscommunication" instead. Stepdaughter said her file was about 1/4" thick, wife said hers was more like 3 1/2" thick, guess they misplace the larger ones.

Its my understanding you send your application to some lockbox, don't know what they do there, perhaps just look it over. Then to someplace in Missouri where it joins up with the rest of your file, then the whole ball of wax is sent to your field office. Its only then and there after they receive your file do you get your interview notice, well give and take a couple of years until they get around to it. So I think its safe to assume your file was misplaced at your field office is what happened to my wife, but a call to my senator after waiting a couple of months, they found it very quickly. So the big is question, is someone looking for it?

Did talk to a rather nice woman taking a smoke break outside of the St. Paul office, should have been an IO, but guess she is too nice for that job. She told me she worked in the filing section and was really kept busy. Hated those delayed oath ceremonies St. Paul is famous for, waiting to get at least 3,000 candidates, so she had to dig up all those files. Could save all that work if they had the same day oath like other field offices do. But that is up to the office manager.

Ironically, you have to give them 120 days to find your file where you have the option to wait some more or to take them to court at your expense. No wonder why their fees are so high, could never run a private company that way, but they don't have any competition!

I have never even had a traffic ticket.

Since I arrived in the USA 10 years ago I have only received a parking citation when I had gone to a college to see an advisor and didnt realize visitors needed a sticker. paid my $20 and that was it.

How can you say that when the OP posted, "When I asked my IO he told me a story about how my file was lost." Strange he didn't use the word, "misplaced", that is what we were told, not once, but three times in our USCIS history.
