usually when someone is trying to kill you, it's with some form of weapon. i'll take suggestions on how to stop someone like that without causing them permanent harm.

So since now its abolished, it should be clearly discernible that violent offenses including murders WILL increase significantly, because the conscience of murderers and other criminals will be free to do their violent acts without fear of themselves facing state execution.

So give them 20-25 years, then they can get right back out and do it again!

Alas, your attempt at sarcasm falls flat on me. I am fully 100% opposed to the death penalty, because I don't believe the barbarism of government-sanctioned murder is "justice." There is a huge fallacy in the illogical attempt to say against death penalty = loves child rapists and murders. My standard of personal ethics and my moral code means I believe that life should be protected. I do not think murders should go unpunished, but the death penalty has NOT served as a deterrent, except in places of total oppression. And then, it's not really the law that causes the deterrent, it's the fear of sadistic leaders or their henchmen.

Actually, for those who dare to argue that the death penalty is 'inhumane,' they would be very sadly mistaken in their definition of what is humane.

Understanding what happens in prisons is very important in this factor. Their punishment might as well be considered 'cruel and unusual' when you get down to the bottom of it all because of the torture that is inflicted by other inmates, or if they are big enough, the torture that is inflicted by them.

Animals are animals. Rabid ones need to be put down where they can harm no one else.
