Is this the beginning of the end of the dark ages here?

Activists praise Illinois for ending death penalty

CHICAGO Leading anti-death penalty advocates say Illinois' move to abolish the death penalty is a turning point in the conversation on capital punishment nationwide.

Illinois is the 16th state to get rid of the death penalty. Gov. Pat Quinn signed legislation Wednesday, two months after Illinois lawmakers passed it and more than a decade after former Gov. George Ryan imposed a moratorium because of concern that innocent people could be put to death.

Equal Justice USA executive director Shari Silberstein says Illinois has really studied the death penalty since then and found that it can't be reformed to be fair or cost effective.

Amnesty International USA executive director Larry Cox says no state has tried harder to fix the death penalty than Illinois and it's a landmark day.

A bill just left committee in the IL House to allow for concealed carry in the state, too. :)

As much as I am concerned that this will mean more psychos like the gunfreak lady that killed Shawn Gayle's pregnant GF will have access to firearms, it will mean that this here person will also be able to pack some heat and live paranoid about who will be the next crazy shooter, subway bandit, or imbalanced granny ready to threaten my castle or friends on the street. I am relieved. And even if I get caught defending myself by a communist cop and overreaching DA, bending to the will of mighty Obama in his quest to take all of our guns, at least I won't get executed in IL.

Trash allowed to continue to live on permanent welfare. Yup, I can see why the leftists on this board are happy.

3 meals a day, cable tv, basketball courts, etc.

Next thing you know the leftists will be fighting for inmates to be making minimum wage!

Oh yes, a great day for America indeed!

The REAL problem is that we don't execute enough of them.

Thin the herd!

I have no idea what that last post has to do with the topic. Except for the little bit of a possible paranoid psychosis showing through the desire for the execution of leftists, or criminals, or something like that, from the way its written.

But the source has a history of unsubstantiated claims, so its no surprise.

the capacity of you to understand basic reasoning is quite lacking.

Also basic comprehension is lacking as well.

I suppose this is to be expected.

No one has the right to take a persons life. Not even the government.

And I suppose you know more about most posters here than they know about themselves too, right?

DSM-5 is coming out in a couple of years. I'm sure they'll have some room for disorders that manifest themselves online.

Sure they do.

You have no more rights than what the person standing next to you says you can have and vice versa.

Doesn't the US define "life" has an unalienable right?

Doesn't the US define "life" has an unalienable right?

I suppose the constitution does say a life can be taken through due process.

As I said, explain that to the person standing next to you with a gun pointed to your head.

'Rights' are there to ultimately attempt to protect us from the Government, yes. However you cannot control that of which is not controlable. Human nature/action is one of them.
