Finding, reserving and paying for hotel near Embassy

Just trying to get a feel for a few things.

First, which are the best, reasonable hotels near the Embassy?

Second, how can I reserve / pay for a room? Or does my fiancée need to do that? She's pretty shy and prefers not to talk to strangers on the phone.

Don't do it by phone...reserve a room online. Most, if not all, hotels near the Embassy should have a website and allow you to reserve a room online. This is what I did when I visited my fiancee in May of last year. For me, the whole process was pretty much trouble-free.

Hi! Try City Garden Suites. We've stayed there when hubby and I went to the US Embassy to get his eligibility to get married. It's a decent hotel with buffet breakfast. It's a walking distance away from the Embassy and the mall (Robinson's Mall). You can also get a taxi for just 40 pesos (flag rate only since it's really near) from the hotel to the embassy.

Do it online. It's trouble-free.

I stayed@ Bayview park just across US em when i was processing my K1. I also stayed at Citadel Inn. You can pay it online coz it's cheaper online. But what i did was i made reservations and pay a lil bit for reservation just in case u will not like the room u have the option to look for another place.

John--

Consider Mabini Mansion Hotel which I and my fiancee have stayed at before. And were extremely pleased with. Mabini Mansion is within very easy walking distance of both the embassy and St. Luke's Medical center. The rooms have kitchenettes which can help save on food costs. Security is good. There are a variety of room types, ranging about 30 USD and up per night. The less costly, standard rooms, are a bit older but hard to beat the price and the locale. If you don't mind paying a bit more, consider the suite rooms which are **amazingly good** and well worth the extra cost.

I have lodged in many of the hotels in this and other areas of Manila. Plus, I have had opportunity to inspect many others I have not lodged in. True, there are many choices with reasonable prices and accomodations. However, Mabini Mansion hotel is hard to beat.

I think I booked our stay through agoda.com. We stayed at Lotus Garden the first time I visited. It was decent, but got loud about 2-3 am. We walked back from the embassy to there. After that we stayed at Pearl Garden and it was pretty nice. Had a pretty decent breakfast too. Within walking distance to St. Lukes, Embassy, and about a block and a half from Robinson Mall. We took a taxi the first day of my wife's medical and it was like 40 pesos. The second day the taxi driver tried to be greedy. He said something like 100 pesos...I gave him 50 pesos and got out of the taxi. He didnt turn on the meter when we told him to and I knew how much the ride should have cost. All the taxi driver said was traffic....go figure. There are plenty of nice hotels within walking distance of the embassy and St. Lukes. I think I did a search of hotels on agoda.com and it comes up with like 15 or more hotels within 2-3 blocks of the embassy.
