What documents to send to Montreal

Hi,

I have been working on my visa application all day today (10 hours so far) and I have a few questions for everyone. I have looked at previous posts but I couldn't find anything specific for Montreal. I'm confused about what should be sent to the Consulate via the courier service and what documents are only shown at the interview. My understanding is that I need to mail (via courier service) DS-230, the checklist, 2 colour photographs, photocopy of my biographic information in my passport, 2 copies of DS 156, DS 156k, DS 160, and confirmation for DS 160. However, forms DS 156k states that you need to attach your birth certificate, police certificates, evidence of engagement to your fiance, and evidence of financial support. I had thought that those documents would need to be provided at the interview. Do they also need to be sent to Montreal in advance, via the courier service? Also, are you allowed to provide copies or do I sent my actual birth certificate etc?

Thank you for your help with this matter!

Do not send any original documents to Montreal. None. Send the forms, the pictures, the checklist.

Birth certificate, police certificates, I-134 and supporting evidence, proof of ongoing relationship ... all of that stuff is brought with you to the interview. Make copies of everything.

Thank you for your response! Do I include copies of the birth certificate, police certificates, I-134 and supporting evidence, proof of ongoing relationship etc in the package I mail to Montreal?

No. Bring them with you to the interview along with the originals. :)

So, I am on the same step as you. :) I am currently filling out the paperwork as well to send in my Packet 3 to Montreal. I just wanted to verify that we really do keep all other paperwork (birth certificate, police check, etc) with me until I go to the interview? Do I not even send them a photocopy of it?

Don't send any of that documentation. Only send the forms, the checklist, the passport photos and the copy of your biographic passport page.

Make copies of birth certificate, police check, I-134 along with originals to the interview. Don't send them in with Packet 3. Simply list on the checklist that you have them or WILL have them by the interview date.
