The species will continue just fine even if every child who gets sick does not survive or even if every child does not learn to read and write. These things we say are needs are actually wants.

If our culture is to survive we must look to take care of our mutual needs, especially in seeing that the children being born now have the good health and education needed to contribute to our well-being and the well-being of the country after we cease being productive ourselves. Or maybe you would rather see retirees just subjected to Palin's death panels!
