now that you put it that way, it sounds like a ponzi scheme.

Yeah, and you're a willing participant as a parent of young child you don't actually pay for up front for. Now go clean your guns, you closet socialist.

I'd rather (and did) walk on people's lawns rather than in the street. If the sidewalks were there, I wouldn't have done it.

Walk on the wrong lawn and you could get shot.

You could, if it's socially acceptable for murdering psychopaths to get away with blowing people away for trivial reasons.

Not that I'd be surprised if there were people on here who would endorse that kind of batshittedness

One's property is quite important to some people.

Stop prancing around the topic like a freakin' fairy and just say you'd shoot him if he walked on your lawn.

So perhaps sidewalks should be put in so that people don't have to walk on the grass to avoid walking on a busy road.

Why can't you walk on a busy road? Just stick to the curb.

You used to live in the U.S. You know it is, in many parts.

I think a lot of people in the US have totally lost touch with any sense of reality when they start rationalising guff like that.

"I don't want my tax $ to be used to put in or maintain sidewalks but step on my grass - I shoot you". A person would have to be f*cking insane to think that this makes sense.

only if he had dreadlocks and a tie-dyed shirt.

So you'll imply that you'd shoot a pedestrian for walking on your own but when pressed to spell it out you put on your funny man hat.

I think the gun nuts on here like to talk about castle doctrine

Parked cars on the street force you to go in one of two directions - into traffic or onto the grass.

I will admit I've never seen what you're describing outside of the occasional residential neighborhood where someones throwing a party. Busy streets with on-street parking almost always have sidewalks.

I've only seen it in parts of LA when I was out running. You'd get streets where the sidewalk would inexplicably stop for several hundred yards.

Would land mines make you feel better?

Of course then I run the risk of blowing up the mail man....
