So I live in Seattle, WA and my fiance lives in Vancouver, BC. I just received a letter from the NVC saying that the interview is to take place in Montreal, yet again she already lives in Vancouver and I know there is a post in Vancouver too. Is there any way we can try to change the location to Vancouver? This seems kind of ridiculous. Any advice appreciated, thanks for your time!

If she lives in Vancouver, and you two are applying for a K-1, then the NVC has made a mistake, and your issuing post should be Vancouver. Montreal will notice this, and should transfer the approved petition to Vancouver on their own [they're still backlogged, and won't want to handle anything they don't have to! :)].

Just to make sure, wait a couple of weeks for Montreal to receive the petition and contact them directly. They will almost certainly transfer the application to Vancouver, if they had not done so already, if you so request, since she should be going through Vancouver anyways.

Did you get the MTL case number? I would email MTL with the case number saying that NVC sent it to the wrong embassy, it should be sent to Vancouver etc etc and request them to FWD it to Vancouver. Then Email Vancouver embassy and tell them about the mix up and that you are requesting MTL send your case ( MTL case number ) to Vancouver etc.

Did you get any information on this? I saw another post from 3/22 I believe with the same problem. Is this just a few mistakes or are they changing to just out of Montreal? I know I have a while to wait yet, but am curious as my fiance lives close to Vancouver. Thanks!

So what I had to do was email the US embassy in Montreal and ask them to send the case to Vancouver. Within 2 days they responded saying that they had done it, and just a few days ago my fiance received her first contact from the Vancouver embassy so looks like everything worked out! Just created an annoying time delay, but hopefully we'll get that interview before our wedding date of 7/30.
