I am filing form G-639 in order to obtain a copy of my green card. I have been a U.S citizen for years and never thought i would need a copy of my greencard. However, in order to obtain a visa to my home country now they are requiring that I submit a copy of my greencard. So just needed help in figuring out which option to choose on the form G-639 : the freedom of information act or privacy act.

thanks for your help

when you become a US citizen, you automatically change status. If your home country has diplomatic relation with the US, your US passport should be enough for you to travel in and out of that country. yet, if the country does not have diplomatic relationsip with the US, your citizenship at birth passport should be the only document you need to enter your home country.

My country of birth is India and the U.S/India relations are positive. However, it is the indian embassies that have started this new trend where they are requiring green card copies etc. It is all ridiculous because how can you be naturalized without having greencard. i have obtained a visa to india before without any issue before.

If you dont have the Green Card copy you can submit other documents like old passport, original I-130 etc for more details check this link https://indiavisa.travisaoutsourcing.com/requirements/display

Read number 9.
