Hi,

Just have a couple of questions before I submit my packet 3 forms to the US Embassy (it's in Dublin but I'm sure it's the same sort of questions that are asked elsewhere)

I've just requested my police certificate, which I was informed should take 2-3 weeks, and my medical is scheduled for 22nd March.

Per the instructions in the packet I was sent, I must submit the DS-230 I form as soon as possible. Then gather all the needed documents on the checklist, which will take a few weeks since I'll have to wait for the medical and police cert. Then send the Notification of Readiness that I have all the pertinent documents in my possession.

So I'm wondering if it's ONLY the form DS-230 I that I should send now with nothing else like the instructions I was sent seem to suggest. And how risky is it to send the Notification of Readiness with a cover letter describing when I have my medical before I have my police certificate in order to make the process as fast as possible, with the assumption that I'll have everything I need before the interview date. Ideally I'd love to speed the process up as much as possible but I don't want to risk having my application refused.

Many thanks,

Thomas

Yes with packet 3 you must send DS-230 1, The checklist and signed notice of readiness, and submit the electronic form DS-156, all at once. Our police certs took 2 weeks but I have heard of others taking 6 weeks.

Hmmm I figure that it's pretty much going to be a month after I send Packet 3 until the interview, which technically should leave plenty of time to receive the police cert in the meantime. But if it could take that long to receive the police certificate then I don't know if it's worth the risk of ending up with no police certificate at the interview. Damn!

Good luck with the big move!
