How much time to immigrate after visa approved

Once the visa is approved, is there a certain amount of months or years the visa is valid for? Specifically, I am talking about my wife who is applying for visa in Pakistan. Thanks

cr-1 visa is good for 6 months from the date of issue. It will be printed on her visa.

Yes typically 6 months to travel...but have your wife make sure once she gets her visa in hand.

From what I understand it's pretty much set in stone. I know of no extensions...the visa simply expires and the whole process has to be restarted. Since it's a CR-1 she will receive her GC within a couple of months upon entry (not that she needs that to travel since her passport will be stamped) and she can return to Pakistan if she needs to clear up some business or loose ends. She just needs to make sure she maintains domicile in the US.
