we are waiting for the K-1 interview notice, currently because of the scheduling, and my fiance's parents want to have a wedding ceremony (but not registered) in her home country.

But I was wondering if I create wedding website that announce our INFORMAL wedding ceremony in her home country. Would the visa interview or USCIS check my background or the wedding website?

thank you so much for your help!

They will in some cases check this website, which right now has your full name and the fact that you are having a wedding before you are in the US. Technically you are allowed to have ceremony that is not official or binding by your own country. Is it a good idea? Arguable.

I think it would likely be ok, as long as you listed as an event called "Engagement Party" or something of that nature on the website. I would not invite trouble by advertising it is an informal ceremony. Just make sure it is informal with NO registration. I would even go as far is if anyone is officiating such a ceremony, to make sure they are not licensed and maybe even just a family friend. This way there can be no doubt there was no official wedding.

Presenting yourselves as married could be an issue as mentioned in your other post asking about a marriage ceremony.

If this proposed website caused a delay in the process would it be worth it?

I'm confused. If it's not legal or binding, what would be the problem? We went through an informal ceremony before I left the country with her parents. I really am baffled as to why it would complicate things. If anything, wouldn't it prove the relationship is real? I call her my wife to friends and family because to me she is, but that's not in writting anywhere. Is that something I should keep secret? We're to the wire now with our NOA2 maybe coming soon. I don't want any problems.

Just send an e-mail to the embassy where your interview would be conducted and ask if it's an issue. In all likelihood, it's not. In some countries the wedding ceremony is "legal", and in those countries it's an issue. I don't presume to know what those countries are.

Why not have a wedding? While waiting for the K1 fiancé visa my fiancé decided to have a big one in her country. Actually I thought we were going to go through the whole process of applying for the license... I let her take care of that since she was adamant. After the wedding I come to find out I signed a fake marriage license. She is in the US now and since then we had to get married legally... (of course not fake papers). So if you want to make your spouse's family dream come true then by all means.

hmm I'm surprised no replies from the last post.... anyway it was all exagerated lol. Do not get involved with licenses as you may just get rejected. What we had in the Philippines is an engagement ceremony. It was short of a wedding but at least her parents got to be part of it. No issues with the embassy. We considered ourselves pretty much married even before we had our marriage.
