Not like she was attacked by a bear. Then she'd be worried.

The other woman was a Korean immigrant with a heavy accent. Poor cop that had to do THAT report. But the Korean woman was very attractive also so maybe not "poor cop"

She hasn't said yet. I have to do all the calling tomorrow to get her a rental car until things get settled. I am sure she will be looking for something soon, she is doing homework tonight. She may go back to her original desire for a small four door car which is what she ws looking for when she spotted the Solstice and since it was about the same price...

Just a suggestion...but I'm sure your winters are a bit similar to ours up here...and it's hard to beat the Toyota RAV4 and the Honda CRV...and even the Subaru Forester...and/or the Ford Escape for that matter. AWD is the only way to go imo.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

My Jeep Liberty is the best thing I've ever driven for a winter vehicle. Wheel base and center of gravity are perfect.

I see a lot of those up here also. Not sure though but when they first came out it looked like they might have a bit of a short wheel base...which can be a killer on the ice. That was the first ones, not sure if they lengthened the wheel base on those or not.

I had a Suburu Legacy Outback When Alla arrived. I traded it for the mini van I bought her as her first car which is now my car. They are great! I spun off the road once and buried it in the snow after sledding it through some drifts. Stepped on the gas and just drove out of the embankment back on the road. Put some studded tires on the things and they are like driving a tank. They are used by all the rural mail carriers here if that tells you anything. They handle the mountain roads real well.

The Suburu was voted the "State Car of Vermont". Another popular one is the Volvo Cross Country for the people that like the pricier things.

Subaru has been the #1 selling car here for years now. Iv'e had five of them to date starting with a 1980 GL 4x4 wagon..the older GL's wagons were the best imo (4-high and 4-low. I'm sold on the Sube's...well that was until I rented a RAV4 this winter. If you get a chance test drive one...they are like heaven, and they ride on ice and snow like they were made for it.

They might have lengthened the wheel-base on the very newest ones, seems like they've changed a lot this year, but I don't know. I've got a 2005, and I agree with you that they'd seem to be a little short, but I think they're actually right in a very nice sweet spot. They're not as short as the CJ or Wrangler, and seem to handle a lot better. (yeah, I've had some Jeeps in my time. :)) I've driven the RAV4, but not on snow, didn't care for it. I really like the Honda CRV though, and the Ford Escape is also da bomb in the snow.

I will mention it to her. She has never expressed any interest in one of those, but who knows? We were looking, originally, at small 4 drs. The Nissan Versa for example. They actually do OK here if you are not going to the mountains. In Burlington and the surrounding area, we are in a valley and have much less snow than just a few miles east. If you stay around here, it is pretty normal winter city driving and they clean the roads good. You get outside the city and things go downhill (actually UPhill fast)The roads go from interstate to goat trail in under 2 miles. For her kind of driving, any decent Front WD with winter tires is OK, really. She likes a small car for easy parking and such.

Our fun car is a six speed 2005 RX8, it doesn't like our Detroit wintery roads. Thank God Alla is ok.

Hey, nice no one was hurt. That's always most important.

But I gotta tell ya Gary. Hearing your stories about Alla and driving has me a little worried about my Quattro. The plan for me was to keep it since it's almost paid for and get a truck next, and the S6 would go to a future possible spouse, if that is in my future. But now I have visions of seeing my car come home every few days with a few more dents here and there....and ummm no explanation. Like...Honey..what happened to the back bumper??? It seems to be gone.... it was there yesterday...?? "oh I back up too far and hit that stupid curb thingy..."
