wifi on overseas flights

Not on the overseas flights as Nigeria has said it is only on select flights, Delta is the one that always advertised it, eventually they might offer it for overseas, but i think it will be a while since the signals can actually mess with the airplane

WiFi service on an airplane usually depends on ground based towers to provide the air-to-ground (ATG) connection to the internet. Most of these services, like Gogo Inflight, use 3G cellular technology, or "aircell". There are no towers in the middle of the ocean. The ATG connection would have to be provided by conventional radio technology, similar to airphones. This means the bandwidth would be severely limited.
