My Father has got the Immigrant Visa but he is unable to Travel alone to USA. I was the petitioner (son). He has only 2 months left to Travel to USA. If he doesn't come within the Time given his Immigrant Visa will be canceled. I can't go because of my Job until August of 2011. Is there a way I can EXTEND his time to stay longer until I can go back home to bring him with me.

Please Help

Thanks

I'm a U.S Citizen.

Why can he not travel? If there is a very good reason (such as he has serious medical issues, need to finish academic year at university), the US embassy may re-issue the visa to b e valid another 6 months. Gather proof, then contact the embassy with your request. Make sure to get the new visa before his current visa expires, as we have had cases on here where a casual enquiry to the embassy got a "yes, we will extend", and then when the beneficiary sent in his passport after the old visa expired, they refused to do it.

He is 78 year old that is not enough for Embassy. People at Embassy are Full of #######. When I was there, they could have completed the process but didn't. Put in long 1 year administrative review, then after my several emails and phone calls they say to my father your Passport is expired. Dummys kept the passport for over a year. We didn't think they would take so long to approve visa. Passport was valid for 13 months at the time of the interview. so they ask for 6 months valid passport but would not send a passport back to have him made a new one. Passport office only make new passport when they received old passport returned or mart it lost. anyway my dad somehow manage to make a new one send it to them then 3 monts later after my mnay calls and email they say Oppps we don't have a Valid Police clearence certificate. Dummy's Police certificate was expired because it was only valid for 6 months as well. Again made new and send then they took another 3 mohts to approve the application. So by the time they approve and send him the passport back there are only 4 Months LEFT from ORIGINAL 6 Months they were suppose to Give my FATHER to come to USA. I NEED TO KNOW THE LEGAL PROCESS , LEGAL FORMS to FILL to FORCE U.S EMBASSY to ISSUE HIM ANOTHER 6 MONTHS.

Thanks for all the HELP !!!!!

There is no legal process but to give them proper reasons EXCEPT being a 78 year old who cant travel along. That is no excuse... there are people who travel all the time - alone. How..? They use the services of the airlines for children, elderly and other. IF they delay his entry /extend his visa he will likely have to obtain another Police clearance etc.
