Received appointment letter with the interview date and packet-4, but no packet-3

Hi everyone!

I haven’t received packet-3 by mail, but my fiancée (petitioner) received an email from the US Embassy in Kazakhstan - Appointment letter with my interview date and packet-4 with:

1. Interview instructions

2. Medical examination instructions

3. Checklist

4. DS230

5. I-134

6. DS-156K

7. Instructions to fill out DS-156

There is no instruction to send anything back by mail. As far as I understood, I just need to gather my paperwork, fill out the forms, get my medical done and go to the interview with all my paperwork.

Does it sound weird that we skipped the whole packet-3 process and jumped straight to packet-4? I'm assuming they combined Packet 3 and 4.

Has anyone had a similar situation? I guess it depends on each embassy.

They do it the same way at the embassy in Moscow. No separate packet 3 and 4.

By the way, my wife was born and lived much of her life very close to Osh.

Oh I was wondering about this actually. So I guess the interview date is scheduled immediately by e-mail without returning packet 3. My application was forwarded to Almaty about a week ago so I guess I should be hearing from them sometime soon. Looks like I will have to hurry up and get all of the required materials together.

I was thinking my fiance would have to spend a week in Almaty to get the medical done before the interview. How did you got about that part?

Thank you! You should be getting the combined packets 3/4 any day, which will include an appointment letter with her interview date. What I did was I went to Almaty 2 weeks before my interview date, had my medical and went back home. I called the clinic a week later to find out if the results were ok. I went back to Almaty the day before the interview to picked up my medical results.

The visa should be ready the next day after the interview at 16.00. However, when I went to pick it up, they told me to come back in the morning since my visa wasn't ready yet. Therefore, I had to spend an extra day in Almaty, otherwise she should spend only a couple of days there.
