Someone from the Canada section had a K-1 and was denied entry because of a past criminal thing, It was talked about at their interview but the visa was granted anyways. The person arrived to the border and the CBP said no way! called the embassy and then stamped the visa canceled This person had to go back and go through a plethora of things to get into the USA.

I think really the best way to get denied entry with a visa is that you forget your immigration packets, they are opened or you have criminal history.

As long as she has the packets and they aren't opened and shes not had some crazy criminal past she should be fairly alright crossing through. Having said that theres no telling if she will get someone who is just on a bad day and will be rude. I have heard of some people getting really rude CBP that questioned everything, made rude comments and even brought some women to tears. Just inform her that she may run into someone who is trying to be rude and to stand her ground, not get upset, not get rude back, just stay nice and calm with the person.

Most likely seperated??? Most Likely?? or for sure??? is this known or just an opinion. I am planning on flying and coming back with my fiance as she has never made an international flight and wants me there with her. So, you are saying they will seperate us and then we have to find one another again at some other place in an international airport??

Can a senior member give some advice with evidence to back it? Thanks..!

POE separates citizens and foreigners, theoretically. Just stay with her in the foreigner line and all will be well. On the next trip, you'll both go through the other set of lines.

First off I'd like to thank everyone one here for the information on this board. With the help of this board I was able to complete all the paperwork needed to get a k1 visa for my girlfriend and one for her son. My future wife and her son will be here in 6 weeks. My question is, do I need to escort her into the US or should be OK by herself. I only ask this because of the extreem rise in airline tickets from Atlanta to Costa Rica. Do k1 visa holders have many problems at port of entry? Thanks for all your help.

RobP

From personal experience coming through Atlanta 3 times I have never encountered any issues at all there. My first time I was visiting on VWP and the officers were nothing but so polite to me. This was my first trip to USA and I was nervous but they were all very accomodating and said "what took you so long to get here " lol my second visit they said welcome bac and on my K1 visa they were great, took my envelope one finger print as I was alreeady on the system, reminded me of time to get married (90) days and said congrats and have a happy life here in the USA. I had men each time and they were wonderful. It is a large airport but its easy to find your way and get your bags or if she is on a connecting flight they may be transferrred for her and there is always someone to ask. I never had a problem at Atlanta and my daughter flew in there last year also and she was fine too. So don't worry K1 they know is nervous and they will help if she is confused. Good luck

Wife (then fiancee) and I entered through POE Atlanta., You can stay with her the entire time. You can go through either line, citizen or visitor line together. We were never separated.

As others have said, there is NO requirement for the petitioner to escort the beneficiary.

I waited for her at the airport. It was her preference to do it that way.

She arrived in NY before the end of December (we married on Dec. 31 so I could file income tax as married for 2009).

I spent a month in Thailand with her in October so we could jointly finalize the documents for her interview.

I also accompanied her to the police check and the medical exam.

She was thankful to have me there for those things.

She was already seasoned in international travel so she had no problem traveling alone.

She will be fine. My POE went smoothly and I was by myself with our 3 year old :) She just needs to make sure her envelope is not opened and that she has it, with her visa and passport ready when she gets to customs and immigration.

Good luck!! I bet you are excited to finally have her with you for always!!

Invictus..

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the Pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll.

I am the master of my fate:

I am the captain of my soul.

She's a big girl, I'm sure she can manage on her own if need be. Thousands of women travel by themselves (or with children) through immigration everyday.

I am also planning on escorting my fiancee for several reasons. She has never traveled outside of southern Brazil and doesn't speak any English. Airport transfers can be extremely confusing. It's also a great opportunity to help in the transition, helping her family see her off with the person who will take care of her, etc. etc...

I also used to live there and can't wait to get me some Guarana, acai, feijao e arroz (Rice and beans). Que saudades!

10/03/10 - TOUCH!

After numerous calls to USCIS, my two Texas Senators and a Congressman, the latter got an "expedite" put through (if you can call a month and a week after ONPT an expedite). Just never let up! Even though mine took way too long, there were people who were a month before me and waited longer because they just sat back and watched. "The squeaky wheel gets the grease!"
