I just did it. as soon as they ask you how they can help, ask to speak to a tier 2 immigration officer. They will still try to help you, but at least they told me that would transfer. Once they did and I spoke to an officer, I found out that there was an RFE supposedly sent to me on 6/13 (I havent received it). It pays to call...

Exactly.. when I asked for a tier 2 rep she said "Can I try to help you first?" but it seems they only have access to the same information we do on the website.. I was just insistant after getting the website information read back to me that I still wanted to talk to a tier 2 rep and I told them I had heard that the web site information and was not accureate lately... I had to ask three times but they did pass me through.

For sure worth a call if you are mid march or before..

Well you guys got me all excited about calling USCIS to check my status with the highest of hopes, but per the tier 2 operator the case is still pending.

Which is better than them telling me they sent an RFE out. Looks like I just need to keep waiting.

I just don't understand how it worked. I called the automated line and customer agent. I assume she was tier 1. She told me that my case is pending.How did you manage to speak with tier 2?

This is how I did it---

When customer service came on the phone she gave me her name and agent number and asked how she can help. I identified myslef and asked how she was doing and immediately asked for Tier 2. The rep asked for my WAC #. She retrieved some info and mumbled that I didn't have any RFE, etc etc. She then asked if she may place me on hold and tranferred my call.

Tier 2 came on the line, identified herself and asked how she can help. I started by saying that I've heard there had been issues with the USCIS website and I was calling to obtain an update. Tier 2 asked for my WAC #, first & last name, date of birth, address and name of beneficiary. I was very courteous and thanked her for taking the time to answer my questions.

Does anyone know if this problem with the USCIS case status updates is only for cases going through CSC? Or is it the same with VSC as well.... where they seem to have started approving some April petitions already.

Apparently the second lady seemed pleasant enough until he mentioned that he'd heard that the website was not completely accurate, then she sounded angry and demanded to know WHO he'd heard THAT from. Anyway, she immediately said that our case is still within the normal processing times, and that VSC is currently processing Nov 10 applications so we still have over 100 days to wait.

Did you all manage to get your calls escalated on the first try?

PS- my USCIS page has not been updated. It still shows that I'm in the initial review phase and says last touch March 23. However, my letter is here

Thanks for the info. We will try again on Monday. Would be nice to get an update- whether positive or negative, since the website may or may not be up to date. Hope the rest of us get approved soon. Good luck!

I called tonight... the automated number is 24/7 and you can talk to a live person until midnight (eastern time)... They didn't have my case yet and I was not really expecting them to have it.. I was told it would be 10-15 business days and to call back in a week since it has only been five... Which I will.. and maybe a few times in-between
