RIGHT ON!!!!!! I'm so happy for you that you got through the ASC with everything in order. That's crazy that most people were turned away because they didn't have the DS-260, what a mess. I'm sure there's a lot of upset people over there, and frustrated workers. I'm confident the rest of the process will go just as smoothly for you, you've got it together. My fiance has his ASC Wednesday an interview on Thursday and I think we're all set, too. He's just bringing all his receipts and confirmation numbers to all the appointments just in case...

Is the new procedure (ASC interview and scheduled appointment) making the process take longer? We were hoping for a mid May interview and are wondering if that is still possible.

Also, do I understand correctly that I don't have to wait for packet 3 to arrive before making the appointment? What happens if we arrive without the packet?

Thank you!

If anything, I would say the new process might make it go faster as long as your ducks are all quacking in one row when you get there. We were able to go online and schedule the interview and ASC as soon as the 703# confirmed the packet had been sent. (we did not wait for it to arrive in the mail, although my copy at my US address showed up before we even left for Juarez, so we brought that one. When we scheduled, we were able to do so within 1 week, so its not like they were booked way in advance. (thank goodness!!) When you schedule the appointments, you get to print a confirmation page, this is what they have asked us for so far. We have not had to go to the consulate for anything else so far. So your fngerprints are done before the interview and I would imagine that since the DS-260 is submitted online, then the embassy office has it already in hand to review, then the interview might go faster. We shall see on Tuesday!! So nervous. lol. Will update hopefully with good news then!

Yes, they always send a letter to the petitioner. Its addressed to the petitioner, so its worded different, but has all the same basic information, anyways, it seemed to work just fine thus far. Again take the appointment confirmation printouts too, every place (medical ACS) asks for that! Good luck guys!

In case we do not get the letter in time, can we just go with the confirmation pages?

Loveacanuck, how long did it take since Consulate received packet until you got appointment letter in mail?

The 703 confirmed that it was sent on a Monday afternoon, I had it at my address in the states on Friday. I had already scheduled our appointments for the following week :D and were going with or without it.(the guys at the 703# said we could get a copy prnted out there) The one sent to our Mexican address still hasn't come, and we are almost finished lol. Again, for a K1, the letter didn't give an appointment date, just instructions on schedulng one onlne. Hope this helps!

Question on the DS-260 though, I am online trying to fill it out (thanks Blamb for the proper link!) and it specifically asks your relationship to the petitioner, and the choices are spouse, mother, father, etc. but fiancee is not even an option! You can't leave it blank either, its not an "optional line" Any suggestions?

I was taking a look at a sample of DS-260 and found that question. I copied the post you wrote about it...How did you answer it Loveacanuck?
