C Maria listed this number: (703)439-2313 What is this?

On their consulate website they have this number: (656) 227-3000

Where did you get your number? What's the difference between these? Thanks again.

The ASC appointment needed now is for payment online plus biometrics (fingerprints, photos)

For now it seems it is still open appointment for the interview on K1 fiancee visas.

The thing is to get your ASC apt done before you walk into your OPEN interview.(basically pay in advance, bring that # into them to show you have paid, and also have finger prints & photos done by them)

After April 1st I HOPE it will still be open interview & that we will just need to get ASC done before that interview.

If they change the proceedure & begin scheding interviews for fiancee visas rather than continuing with OPEN system interviews...that will slow it down considerably.

Yes I believe you can do ASC anywhere, but for many people it costs quite a bit to travel to a large city to do that, so it may be easiest to do it in CDJ.

I guess for everyone still waiting for NOA2 and planning to go thru CDJ...we will have to wait & see how they proceed after April 1st (everyone please pray for continued OPEN appointments)

Ha, ha! I honestly don't remember where this came from originally, another VJ member I think! Lots of us have been using this one to get updates about our case at CJ. Press 2 for english and then 1414 to get through to a service rep. Try the other one, too and see what happens. Whatever you do, don't fall for the dollar a minute number that they have out there! Ridiculous.

I think I have lost my mind. I just called the consulate (703#) and they were of no use. They said my case was still pending and they haven't sent my letter out yet, although I am HOLDING my letter. All he kept saying was "then follow the instructions on your letter". I asked if the DS-260 form applied to K1 visas as they website lumps them all together, I asked if it was an open appointment as it says in one paragraph it is, and in the next one to schedule and appointment, I asked if new procedures were for March people or only people after April 1st, his answer to everything was literally, " follow the instructions on your letter." The letter of coarse, they don't even have proof they sent me. I told him the letter was confusing and contradicting, he said, "all I can do is recommend you follow the instructions in your letter." So, no better off than I was at 2am during my meltdown. BLamb, your letter at the top says he has an "open appointment with this office any working day...: but further down it says "...schedule and appointment with ASC and a Consular Interview. Which is it? Were you able to clarify? Sorry guys, I am just so confused. We cannot afford to go sit in a hotel in Juarez to find out our open appointment doesn't exist and wait for a scheduled one. Also, does anyone know, the payment for a K-1 visa is $350.00. We have a minor child on ours, do we pay an additional $350.00 for him? The website says $350 per applicant, just not sure if he is considered an applicant. Arghh! :help:

sounds to me like everyone who works at the consulate is confused as we all are.. :) I think all of us will be ok. The only appointment I am making is for the ASC. After that, it's high tailing it to Juarez. :) I figure as long as my Fiance in Mexico has her ASC done and all the appropriate paperwork filled out and Medical Exam and payments taken care of we should be ok.

I am not sure about your additional payment for children. It's just my Fiance and me. Hopefully someone with children could shed some light on that one for ya. :)

No Kidding! Have you made the appointment yet for the ASC? Just wondering if those appointments take a long time. We are planning to use the ASC in Juarez as there isn't one close to us here. Those on the Juarez forums are sure that they ASC doesn't even begin until April 1st. Also, what is your take on the DS-260? I can't even figure out how to access the form. Its grayed out when I go to the website. Maybe we will all hit Juarez at the same time. I don't know about you, I just want to make it back in time for my own wedding.

Actually my Fiance in Mexico called the consulate nearest her house and was told by them that they are not actually starting the ASC Interviews at her consulate until March 14. Soooo, next Monday she will call and schedule a appointment.

I'm not sure which website you are trying to access to fill out the DS-260 but try this link. This should help. :)

I think I am with BLamb on this one. Most likely you will still need the ASC appointment first as stated in the letter. After that the interview is probably based on open appointment as before (but call consulate to be sure).

Also about how long is it taking CDJ consulate to process petitions and send out letters for K-1 visas?

9/9/10: I-129F Sent

9/15/10: Received NOA1 via text/email from USCIS

9/16/10: Received NOA1 in mail (dated 9/13/10)

9/20/10: Touched!

10/03/10: Touched to the dusty shelves!

2/28/11: NOA2 finally

3/04/11: Arrived at NVC

3/08/11: Left NVC and arrived at CDJ consulate

4/04/11: Packet 3 sent

4/13/11: Packet 3 received!

4/18/11: Medical Exam

4/19/11: ASC

4/20/11: Interview (Approved!)

4/29/11: K-1 Visa in hand!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4/30/11: Entered USA

[/quoteThey received mine on Feb 18, 2011. I got confirmation it was processed on March 8 (by email via my amazing congressman) but of coarse when I called today, the 9th, the computers did not indicate it was sent.....I got an email copy and will see if my hard copy shows up this week... When I called the consulate, they told me it would take 4-6 weeks total and to call back after that, but I call everyday anyway. :P

fyi: I just got off the phone with CDJ, they said they will know next week if the ASC step is required for k-1 visas and have definitive info on DS-260 if that is required.

loveacanuck:

they told me 6 weeks, which has also been avg of people recently through the process...

So in summary once it arrives in Juarez it will take up to 6 weeks. I would call once a week to see if its been processed. Once it is see what they are currently saying regarding the DS 260 and appointments. Good chance we will need the ASC appointment but interview will still be open.

thats the plan so far. Question on the DS-260 though, I am online trying to fill it out (thanks Blamb for the proper link!) and it specifically asks your relationship to the petitioner, and the choices are spouse, mother, father, etc. but fiancee is not even an option! You can't leave it blank either, its not an "optional line" Any suggestions?

Things like this explain why they are still waiting to really make the DS 260 official.

Yes, when I called earlier today it seems like they are figuring everything out, the guy I spoke to kept saying that NEXT WEEK (he didnt give a specific date) it will be decided on what is required and what to do. We just have to wait... as if we havent waited long enough in this process...

I'm still thinking it will be open appointment, because the letter they are sending says that at the top. Its the ASC appointment that has to be scheduled (if required).
