We made it!!!! Wow what an "experience" this was! We are back Stateside now, thank god! I thought I would break down the whole experience for you all in a nutshell so maybe it will help. We arrived in Juarez on a Thursday night. We did medicals on Friday (had a child, children must be there 72 hours in advance so that the TB skin test can be read. NOT 4 business days as the website says.) We got in the door with our appointment printout and a copy of the letter that was sent to our US address. Had our ASC appointment on Saturday. Again, got in the door with just the appointment printout and the DS-260 confirmation page. 10 minutes, fast and efficient, as long as you have already completed your DS-260! Picked up Medicals Monday afternoon. Interview was scheduled at 8:00 am, we were not seen until 4PM. Asked only for our financial information. Never asked for anything else (including the Police Certificates that we killed ourselves to get). The officer said, you're approved...for now and pretty much shut the window in our face. Kept checking the website for our DHL waybill number, called the 703# and they didn't even have a record that we had been to an interview yet. Went back to the consulate Thursday to the information line and the peroson there (who was really nice and helpful) said the visa was approved and on its way to DHL. He informed us that the system is so screwed up now that they aren't even issuing DHL waybill numbers anymore, so the only way to find out about it was to go to DHL and have them look for it in the back. He told us the delivery times from consulate to DHL was 7am, 11am and 4:30pm and that the 4:30pm delivery was usually always about 30 minutes late. We went straight to DHL, it was there however our names were not even in their system. We asked the clerk to please please go look for it in the back and low and behold, there it was. They didn't even know what they had there.

Congrats! Specifically, what financial information did they look for? Or did they just take your financial paperwork without looking for anything in particular?

We finally got a response today from the consulate. The envelope from DHL that was supposed to have the visa in it has another single blue piece of paper that says Robe needs to return to the consulate to redo his fingerprints. Check out the full story on my profile if you can handle more of my whining.

I called the (703)439-2313 as C_Maria suggested because I want to find out if Juarez has received my packet from NVC yet. The recording said that I needed to have the DS-160 confirmation number before talking to a representative. How early can I fill out the DS-160? Do I fill out the DS-160 in addition to the DS-260 or do I do both? How can I find out if my application has made it to Juarez?

Hurray Thaiv!

I think I remember hearing that as well on the phone. If you go through their menu and get a representative they actually only ask for the confirmation number that begins with CDJ that you should have received from NVC. I may have missed something but I do not even see the DS-160 on the Juarez website for K-1 visas. The DS-160 thing may just be a general form that other visa types have to have. As far as I know you just need to do the DS-260 (please correct me if I am wrong).

So go ahead and call that number and have your CDJ confirmation number on hand. Just as a warning, I would only use this number to know your status. They tend to give wrong information when you ask them specific questions about the visa process. All they know is the overall picture and your current status with them. If you have specific questions go to : http://ciudadjuarez.usconsulate.gov/public_inquiry_form.html. This will send an email directly to the consulate and they will respond to you with more accurate information. The 703 number is NOT the consulate number. Its basically just a visa help line for Mexico and a lot of the people that work for them do not know what they are talking about.

Update! We got married yesterday!!  (L) (L) :D :D :D

On the confirmation page of the DS-260 it says:

Next Steps

All applicants must:

1. Obtain and submit required supporting civil documents.

2. Obtain and submit photographs that meet the Department of State’s visa requirements.

3. Review the information specific to U.S. Embassy/Consulate General where your visa interview will occur.

If you have not already collected and submitted the required documents to the National Visa Center then you should do so at this

time. If the documentation you have submitted is either insufficient or incomplete you will be notified by the NVC. Your visa interview

cannot be scheduled until your supporting documentation is complete and correct.

What does this mean? We don't really have to submit anything to NVC do we?

Well, last paraghraph sounds illogical because you scheduled interview already!

Exactly. I think this is just a general form that is used for several types of visas and certain things do not apply, such as this.
