So what is the fix? Some of the worst states have the highest property taxes in the country.

Florida currently has more concealed-carry permit holders than any other state, with 1,269,021 issued as of May 14, 2014

The liberal elite ... know that the people simply cannot be trusted; that they are incapable of just and fair self-government; that left to their own devices, their society will be racist, sexist, homophobic, and inequitable -- and the liberal elite know how to fix things. They are going to help us live the good and just life, even if they have to lie to us and force us to do it. And they detest those who stand in their way."

It's a brave new world out there when the milk cow runs dry. The state of Texas plans to cut its share of Medicaid funding 10% which will total 33% when federal matching funds are factored in. Click the link to get the whole story.

Texas nursing homes concerned over Medicaid cuts

Medicaid is a state-federal funded program that provides health care assistance for children, pregnant women, disabled and elderly people. Senate and House budget proposals call for a 10 percent reduction in Medicaid spending to help close a budget shortfall, but the loss totals 33 percent when the loss of federal matching funds from the stimulus package is factored in, the association said. The stimulus funding runs out in June and won't be replaced.

Based on a survey to determine how dependent nursing homes are on Medicaid, the association estimates that 80 percent of the state's 1,054 nursing homes would close and more than 60,000 residents would lose care if Medicaid funds dropped by 30 percent. In the Houston-Galveston area, 65 out of 76 facilities would close and more than 7,000 elderly would lose care, the association said.

But we have plenty of money to fund adventures all over the world and plenty of money to hand out to save other people all over the world? I just don't get it.

The hippies would say this lol....and I totally agree.

I'm not a hippie, but priorities have to be set if the money ain't there. Which is more important...guns or butter?

If you can stomach seeing grandma cast out to live out the rest of her days under a freeway overpass...then that's what needs to happen.

Or the hippies can rescue her and bring her home with them to support her.

the states are so broke

Of course they are. According to another thread here, they're looking to pay up to $7.5MM to take the garbage out of the WI state Capitol. Overpaying for services in such irresponsible way would break anyone and anything. Hosni Walker should take a look at the clean-up contracts before whining about budget shortfalls.

Must be a union contract.

Bingo!

Actually, no. It's "art restoration experts" charging $100/hr+ who have been making the overblown estimate that it would cost $6 million dollars to swab the entire capitol down with acetone soaked cotton-balls. And another $500K for the initial assessment. Plus $1MM for the outside grounds. It's not exactly a figure that is either to be taken seriously or can be defended. State officials in WI have corrected the number downwards significantly - more in the $350K range. That didn't keep Fixed News from peddling the inflated $7.5MM figure. Makes for good propaganda against the people standing up for their rights. Fixed News also failed to mention that the unions who organized the protests have already set aside tens of thousands of dollars (from the funds that were collected to support the protests) to help the state with the clean-up cost. But hey, continue with the union bashing. Didn't mean to be a party pooper here.

I have no horse in this race, so I don't care one way or the other whether the work has merit or not at that price. All I can say is that the facts should be presented to the public in an unbiased manner instead of partisan political spin. If its legit, then OK. If it is sleazy, then somebody has to answer for it.
