Intent Letter

Hello everyone,

I am new on here but I have a concern. As I am reading all of the wonderful success stories, I am getting a little nervous. Everyone seems to have submitted a letter of intent to marry.

When I filled out my 1-129F I was never asked to submit this letter. Actually, the first time I heard about it was on here about a week ago. My status now is that the Consulate in Jamaica states that they sent my packet 3 to my fiance'.

Is this letter going to cause road blocks at this stage in the process?

thanks

I think your best bet is to have your fiance bring it to the interview.

Technically you should have been RFEd for this, but nobody noticed. No point in drawing attention to your mistake until the interview, the next time the letter will actually be needed.

Thanks so much! It's funny how I was RFE'd for not having a zip code for Jamaica, but not that !!!! Go figure!

Figure it this way: You are dealing with bureaucrats, people specifically trained to pick on nonsense that does not matter and ignore everything that does matter.

It would have taken the bureaucrat who RFEd you less time to look up the Zip code on the internet and write it down than to fill out an RFE sheet.

what is even sadder is the fact that Jamaica is a 3rd world country and doesn't have zip codes!!!!! LOL They actually made me put on a separate piece of paper that Jamaica doesn't have zip codes!!! And these are people we are forced to trust with getting our loved ones over here!!! Help us all!!!

Hmm... good news that the bimbos at VDC overlook things - maybe they will speed up then.. bad news is they expect a zip code for Jamaica!? My fiance is from Trinidad.. same story on zip code.. ya just put WI when you send mail... west indies.. no zip there lol.

Bummer, guess there's a good chance I'll get a similar RFE because of their incompetence.

2-11-11 | I-129F sent

2-16-11 | NOA1

6-06-11 | NOA2

No by looking at your timeline you are good, I got the RFE before they cashed my money order and your payment was already processed. You should be good for now, but it took them 5 months to send me my NOA1

I did not send a letter with intent to marry either. I am wondering what is going on with case. It's been 5 months and I havent recieved my NOA2 or and an RFE either. I am wondering if I am going to get an RFE or just my NOA2

You are probably good as well. If you are going to get a RFE it will be within the first month of processing, if you already received your NOA1 then the next time you will know is at the interview level.

The OP is another proof that Letters of Intent are not that important and can be overlooked. Still have the beneficiary take one to the interview as already advised.

Thanks, and trust me, my fiance has so much stuff it is definitely overkill LOL

Look at the timelines on here - VSC is still processing from August and Sept, so I wouldn't stress yet that you haven't gotten NOA2

I wouldn't wait forever for Packet 3 from the Embassy -you can ask them to email it to you - JA mail is notorious for going MIA.

Thank you, it is so overwhelming not knowing what could be next. *Fingers crossed*

Good Luck to all

True, that I havent gotten my NOA2 yet. But I've noticed on the timelines on VJ some people had gotten a RFE months after filing. (shrugs) The best thing/only thing I can do is wait and see
