Husband allowed re-entry into Canada?

My husband, well boyfriend back then, had been visiting me in Canada during the summer of 2009. He mainly drove and passed the border with no hassles. Labour day weekend, he was supposed to come but was stopped at the border. They did a background check and found that he had a Felony in his record from 2004. They made him turn around and told him he was no longer able to enter Canada. He hadn't tried since.

We then unexpectedly got married July 2010. We are now in the process of getting my greencard, which we were told was approved! Yay :) I am now a Permanet residence of the US. I am still a Canadian citizen. So my question is, now that we are married, is there anyway he is allowed re-entry to Canada? Does our marriage allow an exception since I am a Canadian citizen?

Thanks!
