Whenever I've looked for helpful information here I've taken note of several factors when weighing the responses (in no particular order):

1. Have they SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED the same actions. For example, if they are giving advice about preparing an application for a K1 visa, have they been approved already for a K1? If they are giving advice about AOS, do they have thier GC?

2. Did they get an RFE ... and for what?

3. Same consulate or service center?

4. Similarity of circumstances.

For the most part I agree with this, though I would not use an RFE as a reason to not take advice from someone. The RFE means they know what mistake they made and sometimes it isnt even about a mistake, but something else entirely. One thing that I did when I first started reading the forum was ask a couple people about the negative experiences they had. I learned from their experiences.

I didn't say it was a reason to not take advice ... I said I consider it and the circumstances surrounding it in making my evaluation. In fact, sometimes it makes their advice more valid because you can find out what didn't work rather than just getting a series of answers saying what they did and that it was OK. I learn alot more from specific examples of what was not OK.
