Don't really have any insight or advice to offer, just want to say I feel your pain. Unfortunately the US embassy in Cairo wasn't known for it's "stellar" service before the revolution. I can only imagine what it's like now. Just hang in there. I would think you would get a fairly high priority when it does get back in operation since you already had an interview scheduled. Who I feel really sorry for is couples who are waiting for interview dates. I think that would be a total nightmare.

Yes, Im sorry too! I dont think it would hurt to email the embassy weekly and call maybe 2 times a week. You will probably get a different person each time so maybe someone will have some idea of what to do since you already had an interview scheduled.

Yeah it is awful hard to wait normally but now to wait just for them to open first and then wait for the interview is so frustrating. Our application is at the NVC right now waiting to go to Cairo. Me and my husband are thinking about having our application/case sent to Saudi Arabia, just waiting for our lawyer to get back with us next week. Im not trying to wait all summer just for them to open there doors again because I dont think they will anytime soon, just my opinon maybe I am wrong but im not waiting if I dont have to.

yea i saw that the first day they updated it but didnt get too excited about it for the same reason. "Soon" could be far away! They make it impossible to stay positive thats for sure!

You know, i can't believe our embassy is doing this. I am speaking as a resident of egypt. I could understand if things were even a fraction of the way they are in libya or that there was something major happening. There must be something we can't see or something. Although, it stands to reason though that our govt just authorized 3 million dollars to be spent transporting those who fleed libya to tunisia, back to egypt. So is it really a security concern or is it pertaining to the lack of govt here?

Just my 2 cents but i am feeling everyone's pain. I especially have felt this is all a test of my faith and that i just need to keep praying as i am hoping for the seemingly impossible to happen and that is, they open, i get appt fast and my husband gets his visa in time for the birth of our son, due may 21 without a long tedious ap headache. Am i dreaming? Well its happened for others so we will see. Insha allah!!

Anything pertaining to the government is slow, they have no emotional attachments like we do. Congrats on the new baby coming soon. I hope you have a great group of family and friends surronding you during this time. Me personally I just keep myself completely occupied with work my family and friends so I dont have too much time to sit and think. But me and my husband weill continue to call them 2 times a week, maybe they will get tired of answering the same repetitive questions...LOL!

Thanks kari and yes i am surrounded right now. i am with my husband who is just down right hilarious and his family which i love so much. everyone here is so happy and my husband never runs short of humor. I have been having some braxton hicks lately and he is always tryn to make me laugh and i'm like stop stop i dont want to laugh right now, lol(he is totally clueless about what labor feels like).

i'm hoping against all hope that i dont get separated from him before birth and he not be able to be there cause it is his first and i really want and need him to be there but it doesn't look good for either of us. I've even considered just staying here and having our son and filing crba but i looked that up and that is a real pain in the ####### and we both agreeing he should be born a us citizen so that is where i am at.

good luck to you, i saw your timeline you seem to be moving right along i hope that they open soon and you get to be with your husband very soon. i have a good feeling that it will be soon and my husband said that to me today also so i hope our feelings are right

take care and keep me posted on anything new and i will do same

I don't know you at all, but if I were you, I'd be coming home ASAP. Pretty soon the airlines will not even think of allowing you on a plane more than 32 weeks pregnant. You are pushing serious risks. Your husband could face months' long AP and DOS will not care a thing about your pregnancy to speed things along. You don't know what type of hits could come back on his name check.

I know nothing about medical care in Egypt, don't know if there's an international protocol for an epidural, but you couldn't pay me to have a baby anywhere else. Just my two cents.

Good luck, and God bless you and your little one.
